Magic Research

Such a great idle game! Although I don't know if I'd really call it [i]just[/i] an idle game. It's more like an "active" idle game, since you do a lot of things manually, especially when preparing for and doing boss fights, but also if you want to progress more quickly. The later bosses are quite hard and require a lot of preparation and trial and error to figure out what works best. I liked the story, and it keeps unfolding right until the very end of the game. I highly recommend it!

I really wanted to like this game. I think the asthetic and vibes are fun. But the amount of MANUAL repeated content when you retire is actually insane. I kinda wish this was not the sort of incremental game that you "prestieged" in or "ascended" in. Starting a new run after retiring feels super punishing. In other games of the genre, you get back to where you were in just a couple hours. This is not the case here and I have to MANUALLY do a bunch of repeated stuff like crafting and bossfights. 4/10

Was having a good time the first 40 hours. Then I open the game only to find my saves gone to the either. The fact that theirs no options for back ups, no save states, no fail safe at all for this kind of thing and this can happen at random saps any and all motivation. And by the look in the forums my situation isn't unique. (the fact that they did noting to fix for mitigate this cripping issue says a lot. Update: found the backups. Kinda hidden in the appdata roaming folder but I got it back. gave me a scare.
