RE:CALL

The game where you gaslight everyone. [h1] My Experience [/h1] RE:CALL is a puzzle game where you navigate levels and interact with objects for the most part. Often in the present you're being questioned or interrogated, and have to recall events in a way that directly affects the present. Starting, I had some funny issues on 2k resolution. Some guide text at the top or bottom of the screen stays there when it really should be out of frame lol. It's nothing that affects gameplay so it's fine. There's no audio options, controls are simple and straightforward, and there is an option to thankfully disable some visual effects. They can get tiring to look at after a while. Art and presentation is very charming, very cartoony, just generally fun character designs and funny names too. Love it. The puzzle structure is mostly trial and error. You try different things to come to figure out different pieces of the puzzle, that lead to other steps, up until you find that exact "path" that leads to the solution of the chapter. Some puzzles are pretty logical. In one puzzle I noticed something in the environment, and realized that a certain event there occurs after I make a choice relating…

Really cool time-loop puzzle game

I wish I could leave a neutral review because this game is *half* really good and *half* not what I signed up for. The first half of the game is amazing because of the RECALL mechanic. This mechanic is the game's main selling point and it's the part that you get to see in the demo. I can't overstate how cool this mechanic is. This part of the game is incredibly fun. The problem is that about halfway through, the game essentially ditches the mechanic and instead goes with an extremely tedious stealth sequence, followed by a level that you have to beat three times. Storywise the mechanic is there, but the gameplay no longer reflects it. If the game ended after the first half... then it would be quite short and the narrative wouldn't be conclusive, but it would at least consistently remain the same kind of game that I bought.

I won't even talk about the CH7 puzzles. I'm a patient person, but by the end of them I was exhausted as if I worked a 9-5 shift. It's a 50/50 game with good design, but middle level idea execution. If the game ever gets a rewrite (let a star dream), then I hope the creators themselves will understand what their idea was. The music is amazing, and the small sound details like the sound of the tea tray when the characters moved added to the vibe. For the first half of the game it's a big recommend, but for the other it's a "please don't bother"

Memory manipulation combined with a murder mystery and a sprinkle of emotional introspection I really enjoyed my time with this game overall, but as with others, I found the puzzle section towards the end of the game reeeeeally outstayed its welcome The mechanic to remound reality based on shakey recollection is a pretty cool idea Character designs were neat and the story was more than serviceable Not a long game (8-ish hours) I do recommend it, just a caveat that the ending puzzle is a bit tedious

interesting concept, could've been so much better though. character writing fell flat for me and i couldn't care enough for them even though it seemed like they tried really hard for me to do so. finally i left with more questions than answers which the game seemingly didn't intend to answer in the first place other than that it's a solid 8 hours of gameplay that was only worth it for me on sale 6.5/10
