Tiny Life

I love pixel graphics and this is a nice cozy simulator that is already awesome even in early development. Dev has open communication and details all the changes even though that takes extra time. I rarely buy games before they are released but this is a labor of love and I'm glad to support. The only negative thing I can say is that if I play with the controller everything works great except naming books you write (probably not an issue on the deck due to pop-up keyboard).

Absolutely loving this game, I'm finding it very nostalgic and comforting to play. I’ve made a whole queer neighbourhood: a messy sapphic commune where everyone’s dating each other, a throuple trying to start a family, and a lavender house full of chosen family. It’s so well-made, runs beautifully on Steam Deck, and gives you freedom to just make the world you want. I can see myself sinking hours and hours into this.

It's a good game, I am free to live out my gay dreams. It's early access so I know the items/decorations are limited, but I am hopeful stuffs can be added soon. Thankfully there's mods that still works and makes the game even greater.

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how good this is. Gameplay is fairly basic, though that's to be expected from an early access title, and very reminiscent of the original Sims, and it's pretty smooth. I haven't really run into any bugs or glitches. The thing I liked the most was the emotion system. It helps give the Tinies some personality, though I do think some of the emotions lasted a bit too long-- waiting two hours every time my Tiny got shocked meant it took days to fix her computer. The fact that it's open world is also a nice addition, so there's no gameplay interruption when the Tinies go to visit a store or a neighbor. I should also mention that the soundtrack is fantastic. The pixel art was a little off-putting at first, but it's very easy to get used to. However, there are a few places where it works against itself. It's sometimes very difficult to tell the Tinies apart, and it can sometimes be hard to tell what an item is and what way it's supposed to face. I'm really hoping to see the game gain more of its own identity as it develops. But as it stands, it's an enjoyable way to pass the time.

I guess if you want an indie pixel version of an already existing game series this might be for you.

At the moment, I only have a few hours of playtime, but I played quite a lot of the demo, and I already know that those hours are going to increase dramatically. I really wanted to write my opinion because I honestly think this game deserves a much higher appreciation rating. I absolutely love the life sim genre, and I played The Sims for years simply because I was basically “forced” to: it was pretty much the only game in the genre that could give me the kind of gameplay I was looking for. However, I also had to put up with a huge amount of things I found unbearable about EA’s management of the game. Tiny Life gives me exactly what I’m looking for, without all the nonsense, bugs, and various problems. On top of that, the fact that it’s made in pixel art, which in my opinion greatly enhances the game’s charm, makes it very quick, lightweight, and enjoyable to play. That’s another aspect I really look for in this kind of game. I can’t wait to see how it continues to expand and improve, and I really hope it becomes much more well-known and appreciated than it is now. Huge praise to the developer (who is just one person)!
