Our Mountain

Amateurish story focused walking sim. -low fov -fps can drop to like 30-40 for no good reason even thugh the graphics are super simplistic -character model is so bad -the story wants to be dramatic but is just laughable -you have to replay the whole boring game if you wanna get the second ending -the block puzzle is soooo slow

Very sweet and short game!

[h1] In buddy we trust [/h1] While the story might not be unique for an walking simulator the lesson the players learns at the end is worth the trip. Pairded up with you trusty little companion buddy we make our way across a national park in order to reach the city life. Everything to get help saving buddy. The best part about the game is that buddy is not just your ordinary walk by your side companion you can control him and you need to control him. At times you encounter obstacles that require buddy to search in a smaller passageway for a solution. On top he has the special ability to highlight important interact points and he visualizes part of the ongoing background story. Which gives a pretty strong impression the first time you do it. Like many walking simulators the game wants to teach a lesson by telling an emotional tale. There is nothing wrong with it. The lesson you learn is great. But the presentation is far from perfect. I can boil the problems down to three kinda major issues for me. First of all problems are the cutscenes. The game has like a lot of them. Most consist of the player and buddy having a good time. I am quite split on this game. Our Mountain is far more obscure than it deserves to be. I could not find a single video on YouTube where someone does a full playthrough, and at the time of this writing, I can only see 10 reviews on Steam. And this game came out in 2022! That is incredibly strange to me, because while this game is not the most polished or engaging narrative adventure in the world, there are plenty of games that are far worse and far better known. So, based simply on that, I feel obligated to recommend Our Mountain simply to boost its visibility in the growing and fascinating landscape of Walking Sims / Narrative Adventure games. It deserves to be played. However, there are some serious issues with the game. Our Mountain is at its best when it starts to get surreal and when it begins to fill in the blanks of the backstory, but it takes a bit too long to get there. You are barely given anything to do along the way. There are really only two things close to what you could call puzzles, and they are incredibly rudimentary.
