A relaxing basketball strategy game, which, to be perfectly honest, has less to do with sweaty try-hard-vs-AI type of gameplay and focuses more on the characters and story. It's very touching, has some choices for you to make in between games, and gives great examples of how people show their true colours while playing ball. Overall a pleasant experience. Below I'd like to leave a quote that felt appropriate after I finished the game. "The greatest compliment to any player is he is a great teammate. We can't all be great players, but we can all be great teammates" - Jay Bilas4 found this helpful
Even with a few bumps along the way, the devs have tapped into something special with Wednesday Basketball. The moments where you start to feel why your team is playing basketball and why they may want to win... when you can see characters grow and change as a result of what happens off the court? That feel absolutely electric. I found the quality of the English translation a little spotty (so if you can read French, that's the way to go) and wished there was something more conclusive to the stories and the characters, but if you're looking for a cozy, slightly puzzly, drama-infused-basketball game, you can find a lot to love here.2 found this helpful
This is the kind of cool, melancholic & feel good game you'll want to play. The tactical part of the game is well done and the story is gonna make you laugh & cry a little. Hot beverage, blanket, launch the game.2 found this helpful
Cute indie story-based game with turn-based basketball "battles". The biggest strength of this game is the story: the characters are fleshed-out and diverse, with their own strengths and weaknesses, and I really wanted to find out what happens to them and how they will change throughout the game. The basketball-playing parts seemed a bit confusing in the beginning, but the gameplay is simple enough to get after one of two matches.1 found this helpful
Pros - Lovely cosy artstyle - Entirely playable with mouse - Turn based basket ball which is basic but engaging (at least for awhile.) Cons - After you score a basket and switch to defence, alot of the time your players can be in bad positions. - Some characters have poor shots but when the AI is controlling the charcter they never miss and when your controlling the same character they always miss. Leads me to think there is special modifiers for AI that increases the chances. - While fun at first the basket-ball does start to feel repetitive. - The stories and narrative between games didn't really grab me. Overall I eventually got bored with this and never finished the game but I'm still giving it a recommend. I think it would be harsh to give a thumbs down as the game doesn't really do anything wrong. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood.
A fun and charming strategy basketball game with a good heart. De-emphasizing winning and losing, and having a focus on the relationships built within a local basketball league makes for a more down-to-earth, relatable experience. The game is somewhat short, but the branching storyline encourages multiple playthroughs. I did encounter some missing dialogue as I approached the ending of the game, but nothing game breaking. Highly recommend for a chill, relaxing game that stands in opposition to the usual frantic sports titles.
