About LION The Last Homeland

✦ AI summary

LION The Last Homeland is an action-adventure where you control Rosamunde to explore a world consumed by darkness, collecting 20 children who serve as both allies and combat weapons with unique skills and abilities. The game stands out with its hybrid action-RTS combat system letting you fight directly or command your children independently, unlock new areas through their unique traversal skills, and customize your playstyle with a deep Skill Crystal system.

——————— Explore a World Doomed to Darkness ———————

LION is an action-adventure game where the player controls Rosamunde, a woman who awakens in a world that is slowly but surely being consumed by darkness and demons. You must explore this world collecting all 20 children, who act as both allies and weapons. You can send them to attack independently, use them to attack directly, or combine both approaches all mixed with tools scattered throughout the world that, once obtained, unlock new areas.

---------------------------——————— Action RTS Hybrid Combat System ———————

Fight as a regular hack-and-slash warrior or send the children to attack on your behalf. Each child possesses unique skills, weapon types, and elemental damage, organized in groups of 4 to 5. Some focus on melee combat, others on ranged combat, some on single targets while others specialize in crowd control — and all of this applies when they are used as weapons as well.

——————— Obtain New Tools and Rescue More Children to Access New Areas ———————

Each child type has their own unique traversal skills and tools, which must be used to access new areas of the world. Make the children work together to overcome obstacles and reach places you could not otherwise. Both their power and their number are key.

——————— Explore Dangerous Dungeons with Deadly Enemies and Bosses ———————

Fight dangerous enemies and deadly bosses lurking inside dungeons — these enemies and locations will push your skills to the limit.

---------------------Use ——————— Use Skill Crystals to Customize Your Playstyle ———————

Complementing all of this is the Skill Crystal system — designed to let players customize their combat style and adventure by changing parameters such as the children's AI, and by granting Rosamunde and the children unique combat abilities. Collect special Crystal Medals and equip them through the Inventory Menu.

✦ AI summary

LION The Last Homeland is a striking indie game created by a single developer that blends action RPG with Pikmin-like mechanics, earning praise for its ambitious design and the passion evident in its creation. Players appreciate the game's colorful visuals and potential, though some note that early access controls feel awkward and customization options are incomplete. Reviewers are optimistic about the game's future given the developer's responsiveness to feedback and recommend it to fans of the genre who are willing to support an early access project.

It's a very striking game, excellent if you like this genre. Furthermore, you can really tell it was made with love. The most impressive thing of all is that it was developed and designed by a single person! I think that's reason enough to say this game is worth a shot. While there are things that could be improved, its creator is very passionate about it and diligently addresses everything that needs fixing.

I don't usually review games in early access, but frankly there's so few reviews for this I wanted to help out the devs with one. First off, right now, this game is in alpha, but it is incredibly intriguing. It plays kind of like combining an action RPG with Pikmin I guess? What is here already is very impressive and I am looking forward to the finished product! Now -- currently I'm not entirely a fan of the mouse and keyboard controls (alt for running and such feels awkward to me) and the control remapping is not completed yet. I also find the colorfulness of it to be a LITTLE overpowering. However, it's in alpha and it looks like the dev is being responsive to feedback. All in all, I think this is going to shape up to be a very cool game and the devs deserve support both in terms of money but in terms of feedback on the gameplay. I'll aim to update this in the future when it hits full release.

It's an interesting game with a cool concept performance is very good But it still has some bugs that could be game breaking, specially with spamming UI buttons sounds don't have limit on how much they can play A weird bug that let me jump endlessly If i hold right click and use the retrieve child action, it spawned 1 particle per tick, making a giant sphere of effects and crashing Also, a reset button to reset the keys and child states would be nice or maybe it has one but i didn't find it

The game looks really promising, but I’ve run into two catastrophic, game-breaking issues in specific menus that left me completely unable to continue playing with no way to recover. The combat looks great and has definitely caught my attention. I’ll wait until you’ve made a bit more progress before trying the game again, because the menus are currently too chaotic to play comfortably. I’m really looking forward to 1.0!
