About Galactic Warship

I always wanted to play an action game where I could take direct control of a capital ship in 3D space. Not fake 3D where you're on the same plane, actual 6-Axis Freedom of Movement. One day, I decided to make that game. As a solo developer, I poured two years into crafting Galactic Warship, letting you pilot massive capital-class warships in full 3D with complete 6-axis freedom. You'll unlock dozens of ships, each armed with powerful, customizable weapons, as you face waves of enemies and insane bosses from outside our reality.Full Command of Capital-Class Warships: Finally, a game that puts the full weight of commanding these massive ships in your hands. Navigate, dodge, and engage in epic battles, with the freedom to move on all six axes.A Growing Arsenal to Match the Threat: As you progress, you’ll gain access to an ever-expanding array of ships and weapons to suit your style. Progression is constant, every sector you complete unlocks a permanent upgrade that will help you on your next run.

Infinite Replayability: No two runs will be the same, and I will be adding new missions, ships, and features with the help of player feedback.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the core concept of 3D bullet hell gameplay but struggle significantly with the control scheme, which they find clunky and unintuitive with no customization options. The visual presentation is also criticized as overwhelming and unclear, with some suggesting the game would benefit from a different perspective or movement system like naval-style combat to improve readability and player understanding of the action.

I would like to see this game succeed, its got a good premise, and I like the bullet hell in 3D space thing going on. But please, please work on the control scheme, it is currently horrendous, and you can't edit the controls to make it better. Best of luck, I'll be back to check this out again later.

So in my quest for a Fractured Space / Star Conflict analogue, I came across Galactic Warship. The bill seems somewhat similar and the dev's goals feel somewhat similar, compressed into a roguelike. So where is this divergent? This is an autofire game, which reduces execution agency. It has roguelike elements which are pretty good for buildspace improvements. It does not however have a lot of polish in current state, and unlocks are limited to sector completion, not progression. There's no real note on this in the game either, nor is there notes for how to unlock each ship. Entering in to the ship select just shows ships that you do not own, which makes it feel a lot less polished. The main gameplay loop is enjoyable but appears to have placeholders for other enemies, in that they appear like triangles or even just orbs. Having a capital ship roguelike with a good buildspace is something I'd truthfully love to see. I think this needs some time in the oven, but I'll continue to noodle around in here periodically and see how the game progresses over time. I am hopeful for the end state of it. It could align well with what I want from a game.

I wanna like this game but it's just a bit...busy? It's hard to tell what's going on, controls are a bit clunky. I almost wonder if this game would benefit from being more of a naval-style combat game than one where you pitch, roll, etc.? Like Rebel Galaxy - it'd at least make things a bit clearer as to where enemies and objectives are.
