Rainbow Cotton

Ridiculously barebones port of a charming but flawed game that ended up being worse than the original.

I love the cotton series and the cut scenes and graphics are just stunning in this game, but DAMN is the game part just unfair and hard. Its not hard in a good way, like actually its unfair.

Rainbow Cotton is a joyful, vibrant revival of a cult Dreamcast rail shooter that blends arcade sensibilities, whimsical fantasy aesthetics, and nostalgic charm into a colorful shooting adventure. Developed by KRITZELKRATZ 3000 and published by ININ, the modern release seeks to preserve the original’s personality while updating visual presentation, controls, and overall playability for contemporary audiences. The story remains delightfully simple—Cotton, an impulsive young witch driven more by her cravings for candy than by heroism, embarks on a fantastical journey through enchanted landscapes to stop a mischievous threat. Like earlier entries in the Cotton series, the game positions itself as a lighthearted, accessible shooting spectacle rather than a grim or high-stakes narrative, and its tone is intentionally playful, animated, and steeped in magical silliness. Originally a Japan-only Sega Dreamcast game, I guess it's nice it's available for a wider global audience now? Like all other [i]Cotton[/i] games, there's a lot of endearing wackiness here, but the gameplay is too simple and slow paced. Check out [i]Air Twister[/i] if you want to see this sort of thing done right.

Pretty boring. The controls for this shoot 'em up are kind of dull and not the character visually gets in the way of where you should be shooting. I do not recommend this as a purchase
