Somehow this reminds me of original Stronghold more then the modern stronghold games lol

It’s, just considering the idea, a good game. Some of the old issues got patched, following the ones I encountered again. Troop pathfinding is atrocious. When units try to form a line, they move erratically, which results in archers dying almost every time. Strategy is largely repetitive, with only a brief change of pace in the ice region, where rushing the enemy becomes viable. Otherwise, most levels feel like a matter of having sufficient APS or prior knowledge, often boiling down to a rock-paper-scissors dynamic. Some audio tracks appear to be incorrectly mixed, villagers may scream even when the master volume and all other audio settings are set to zero. Dialogue and narration are dull, though this is more of a minor issue than a dealbreaker.

Fun little game, lots to unlock and explore! Worth the $$$, really wish AAA games were this polished and FUN!

pretty good game, it's like a combat puzzle where you also have to race the clock. It's fun to figure out optimal setups in each level to get through the waves. There are however more options available for units and skills than what you really use. Boats, dragons, trolls, and mages literally are not needed in the campaign and they cost so much you pretty much have to stretch a level out that you can already beat just to see those units in the field. You have a skill tree that resets every level and you earn points each round when you defeat units that you can use to unlock those skills, but again you can beat every level before you have enough points to use the top of the tree. Regardless of those two things it is still a challenge to decide how to use the units and skills you WILL get to in a way to win each stage. I played through the entire campaign will minimal non player skill issues. There is a second mode called siege where instead of building up a town each map has a set number of rounds and you only get so many units/structures/upgrades to make it thru to the end with no healing. Game was great until Coctyus 1. They somehow expect you to start from nothing and hold off a medium boat of archers, 3 groups of archers, knights, and heavy knights all at once lol. There might be a way, but that then means the tech tree is a puzzle and you can't pick and use what you want, and it's a puzzle I can't figure out after 4 tries of getting stomped into the ground when I didn't lose once before.
