GEX Trilogy

This is gonna be quite a chonky review: Gex 1- Oh, boy, does this game made me rage a lot, and this port is faithful to the original one, so yes, this still makes me rage, but it's due to skill issue on my part. Still, if you don't care about your nervous system, or just want to understand the deal behind the story (albeit not a lot), then just going for it shouldn't take much time. Gex 2: Enter The Gecko- The first 3d platformer of the series, and honestly, I like this one a lot. Like, A LOT. However, this wasn't my first experience with the game, but it still was enjoyable and hit me with that hub music, making me remember all the hours I spent on it back in the day. The camera whistles are still the most annoying piece of sound bit in the game. I managed to finish this one in a day's time. Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko- My most favourite game of all three. Every single level has it's own theme and they're fun as they were in the past. Also, this game is a big reason, why I like blondes the most. You're here for 2 and 3. Not bad little platformers, even for all their poorly aged faults. gex is a surprisingly funny character and the scenery/music is decent. controls/level design are okay but could be better. only buy on sale if interested!

So like most with a PS1 I grew up with Enter the Gecko but never finished (as I was like 4 years old lol) but I finally got to play the entirety of Gex with this collection sand it is so worth it. Gex 1 is alright but brutal af. It has a very narrow view since Gex's model is yuge and the camera is very zoomed in. Very easy to walk into traps and enemies coming off screen. It has some interesting levels but not outright spectacular. Enter the Gecko is a pure classic. Basically Mario 64 for us PS1 owners with a much better theme and an utterly classic soundtrack to boot. As well as some amazing levels. Only criticism I have on retrospect is some themes repeat a bit Deep Cover Gecko I never got to play as a kid but I so wish I did. Everything amazing about Enter the Gecko but with no repeating themes and even better levels and a better emphasis on collecting. This has legit become one of my favourite platformers now. Say gex

I generally try to complete games before reviews, but doesn´t make sense for this one since it´s pretty much the same games as in 95, 98 and 99. There goes the biggest negative for this trilogy, it doesn´t add up anything beyond some galleries to check the art of the original games and 2 original pieces made for the trilogy; besodes that you could be running an emulator and that´s what the excecutable here on steam pretty much is, a menu to excecute 3 emulated old games. No fixxes, no cut material restored, no new levels... There´s a rewind option though that makes all 3 games kind of trivial, although you can always just not use it. With all that being said, I still loved this games as a child. I didn´t had any of the big consoles, and it made no sense to tell friends to come over to play with my game gear, but my mom had a PC and the only gaming store on town had like 5 games, all "dad" games (the kinky tetris with playmates, the train simulator, the flight simulator... you know the type of games our dads played those 3 years they played any games) and then Gex. Honestly, this collection ended up being wayyy more stable than their Bubsy one, but still just a solid deal on 3 classic games. Still has a little camera jank but nothing that is absolutely awful.
