Chrono Gear: Warden of Time

Even without hololive knowledge, this is a really solid platformer. Definitely worth your time

One of the coolest kinds of fangames, in my opinion, is one that stands as an excellent game in its own right. Chrono Gear is, without a doubt, one such game. Prior knowledge of Hololive is absolutely not a requirement to enjoy this game or to understand its story, but it definitely deepens the player's appreciation of it. This could have, by all means, been an original game without changing much, and it still would have been great. But all the little lore references and the beautiful song arrangements are where the developers' passion truly shines. The pixel art is also gorgeous, and brilliantly blended with modern graphical effects to create a unique experience that feels old-school without making a big show of it. This doesn't feel like "LOOK HOW RETRO WE ARE, WOW!", this legitimately feels like what a 90s game developer would have done if they had access to 2020s dev tools, with the difficulty to boot. The gameplay, I feel, can be best described as "Viewtiful Joe meets Castlevania, with just a hint of Earthworm Jim". If you like the blue woman you must play it. Great story, great gameplay, great animations, great sense of humour, and the best thing: Kronii dancing!!! It was made with a lot of love and you can feel it when playing the game. I had a lot of fun playing!!
