Has potential but the levels weren't all that and the controls felt really off.

While this is the best bubsy related thing in a decade, it feels unpolished, rushed, and severely lacking for content. Barely just fun enough to give it a thumbs up, but wait for more updates and buy on sale. (Also the humor of this game leans into Bubsy being mediocre and a C-list IP...but the devs are seemingly unironically just continuing the legacy.)

Shocking that Bubsy is back at all, and I really like the result! An honest-to-god love letter to a series containing references, self-deprecation, and everything you could want! Super impressive. It has all the settings you could want too, save for button mapping. The movement in this game is incredible; it's a mix of Super Mario Sunshine & Odyssey, plus Sonic mechanics, and its own...strange mechanic in the hairball. You have a really high skill cap and can keep upgrading it to keep things fresh. The outfits are also unlockable and all rather cute and tongue-in-cheek. Easily one of the best platformers I've played in terms of movement, and that is a very difficult thing to get right. You can tell the developers thought long and hard about what makes a game feel good here. The one thing in my 2hr of gameplay that gives me pause is the enemies. Like a lot of 3D platformers, they are a little to the back, in that Sonic sort of way. It makes me wonder: Why are they here? They're clearly there to populate levels, but Bubsy only has two ways to attack, so it naturally isn't very interactive. It's clearly inspired from the Super Mario series, so...what's up with it? Definitely the best Bubsy game ever made Platforming is very expressive and generous if a lil loose at times Humor is very self aware while never mocking of the series history Definitely a shorter experience but it never ran out of ideas or overstays its welcome, a great way to chill out on a weekend or trip!
