About Screenside Station

Screenside Station is a desktop companion game. Keep an eye on a tiny, cute railway station while you work, watch movies or play another game.

Build and decorate

Running a rail station is a bit like owning a tiny town: some visitors will only come when you've built things that appeal to them. Use your earnings to buy and place everything from an ice cream stand, to a soccer ball, to a rubber ducky. The most important visitor is... you! Absolutely everything can be recolored and placed wherever you want -- arrange the perfect tableau for your zoomed out life.

Perfect vibes

Screenside Station comes with an original soundtrack featuring custom songs for each background, and gentle sound effects that are never intrusive. Place it anywhere on screen and forget that it exists -- until you need a quick break.

There's not much to say about this game, honestly. A train shows up at a station, drops off and picks up passengers, leaves and eventually returns, doing the exact same thing as before. Alongside that, you get customisation options to personalise your character and furnish your station using your unlocked decor. However, I personally enjoyed the game. Why? Well, it didn't cost me a lot of money to purchase and I liked the cut aesthetic of the game. And for release? It's decent. The only real issue I have right now is the amount of processing that the game takes up (4GB of RAM), despite it barely doing anything. Other than that one issue, I recommend this game to anyone who has a bit of pocket money and likes a simple, cute aesthetic game that sits in the corner of your screen.

Oof.. not quite what I expected. All you do is collect decorations, that's about it. An idle game but it's barely even that?

For an idle desktop companion/biome app... this game lacks because it added features unwanted in such app imo... First off, adding that constantly needing to click and clean stuffs is annoying for players who wanted to keep this as a pretty "decoration" desktop companion on the screen. No 1 button clean all is another reason it gets on the nerve here... Second, it's too bulky as a desktop companion due to lack of click through transparency design and too big in size. It's just a windowed idle game in this design. Which brings to the 3rd point, as an idle game, it lacks big deal of fun elements, just annoying chores that ruin the scenery... If they get rid of that cleaning feature and actually do transparency background, it might actually be a great concept for a desktop companion. But for now... it's big no from me.

It's a very simplistic idle game. Interaction is placing, recolouring and fixing the furniture and decor and the things you unlock as you level are random. It's not terrible by any means but there are a few things I think that would make for a better experience: - Some way to track what is and isn't unlocked, so you know what you're working towards. Currently there's no way of knowing if you have found every item or met every creature. - A way for your avatar to recognise and fix broken items without needing manual input. - A bugfix for item colours resetting when an item has been fixed. - A progression system for unlocks, or less randomisation on what decor items are received when you level up. I've got four pinwheels, three bushes, four benches and five armchairs but there's still things I know I haven't unlocked yet. - Adjusted or additional colour choices. Right now there's no good strong options for yellow. The choices are washed out or too green. I won't recommend against it. Just know that you're walking into a fairly basic, if adorable, idle game.
