Monster Crown: Sin Eater

High highs, mid lows. Starting with the positives: the OST, art direction, and story are all great for a creature collector game — the OST especially, since I've got multiple tracks from it in my regular playlist. I'm also not usually a fan of open world games, but this one had me taking notes while I sank hours into its world, which says a lot. On top of that, combat has real depth thanks to the fusion and breeding mechanics, giving you a lot of room to experiment with team building. The bad: a couple of design choices here are baffling. For a story that's supposed to be about choices mattering, you only get one save slot — I wanted to see what it was like to side with each faction, but instead I have to commit to just one. That problem compounds with the ending lockout: you get shut out of the faction-specific endings even if you've met the requirements for the true ending, which feels like a slap in the face after putting in the work. Combat has its own frustration too — almost all moves sit below 100% accuracy, which doesn't add tension so much as it just annoys the player. Fantastic game. Love the monster taming and a pretty good story even for not knowing where exactly I needed to go for some of it. Definitely worth the price of admission. If I had to critique it, I'd say the moves should be a bit more diverse. Think Pokemon 1st gen- Dragon type only had one move, bug had like 6- each type ends up only having 2-4 usable moves in the late game.

Pokemon but instead of wanting to become the champion your character just wants to watch the world burn. definitely one of the best creature collectors i have played on steam many others push me away after a while but this one i cant stop playing

Very fun game! The Fusion and Breeding systems are exactly the kind of mechanic that I get lost in for hours when playing RPGs. Finding out which combos work to get optimized stats on your monsters is a great time. I'm also a huge fan of the graphics and music. The pixel art here is gorgeous, and there are so many bangers in the soundtrack. Overall, if you're a fan of monster tamers, I'd highly recommend it.
