About Abalon: Roguelike Tactics CCG

Abalon (formerly Summoners Fate) is a roguelike adventure that fuses tactical turn-based combat and card strategy. You're tasked with the challenge of guiding your heroes through perilous quests in search of hidden secrets, powerful cards, titanious team members, and mutated rabbits.

The world of Abalon is inspired by traditional tabletop environments, stretching from its frozen peaks to barren deserts and colorful woodland to dingy dungeons. Each world offers its own characters to find, mysteries to unravel and bosses to slay.

Abalon draws its inspiration from classic tabletop games like Hero Quest, Dungeons and Dragons, and Magic: The Gathering, combining tactical combat with thoughtful events decided with the trusty roll of a D20. Exploring Abalon is done in real-time, allowing you to uncover lore scrolls, shop for powerful cards and even attend a goblin's birthday party (don't forget your gold).

Combat brings Abalon into a turn-based game where unit positioning is as important as your spell casting. These tense encounters play out in arena-style maps where the environment isn't just for show, it's a key part of the battlefield. Equip powerful armor from a statue mid-fight. Slam your foes into a wall of spikes. Transform a tree behind enemy lines into an allied fighter. How you control the battlefield is your choice.

In between the DnD style events and slaying of enemies you'll be collecting cards, lots of cards. Every Summoner is linked to two classes, including Arcane, Celestial, Nature, Void, and Chaos. These classes offer different playstyles: Chaos contains a lot of fire AOE spells for big damage whereas Arcane provides the ability to mind-control your enemies.

Your deck in Abalon is capped at 20 cards, so you can collect all the cards you like knowing they won't hinder your current build. If you wish to change your playstyle halfway through your adventure then simply roast some marshmallows on the campfire and chat with the Cosmic Tortoise.

Abalon offers an ever-changing adventure so it's important to adapt to the situation. The Battle Mode allows you to build a constructed deck from the cards you have discovered during your adventures. Bringing this deck, along with two allied units you can test your might against the toughest of foes!
  • 5 Worlds to explore, each with its own events, characters, and bosses
  • 20 Summoners to guide through an adventure, each offering unique abilities for you to master
  • Over 50 characters to meet through world events, all of which can join your adventure
  • Over 400 cards you can collect on your quest to build the perfect deck
  • PvE Battle mode, the perfect arena to master your favorite Summoner

Abalon: Roguelike Tactics CCG combines tactical turn-based combat, deckbuilding, roguelike progression, and tabletop-inspired exploration into a surprisingly cohesive strategy experience. Developed by D20Studios and published by D20Studios and WhisperGames, it distinguishes itself from conventional collectible card games by turning cards into pieces of a larger tactical system. Instead of simply playing attacks and abilities from a hand, players summon creatures, position characters, manipulate terrain, and take advantage of environmental objects across compact battlefields. Each adventure begins with choosing a Summoner before heading into a fantasy world filled with encounters, quests, merchants, characters, treasures, dangerous enemies, and unpredictable events. Exploration happens at a comfortable pace before encounters transition into turn-based battles. This structure gives the experience the feeling of a digital tabletop campaign, especially when random events and dice-driven situations enter the equation. There is a playful quality to the world as well, with strange creatures and unusual encounters keeping the journey from becoming a predictable sequence of battles. Comba…

This is a highly underplayed and underrated game. I was so impressed by this game that I looked up all the other popular releases around May 11 2023 to see if it was just overlooked by some viral gaming fad that had enthralled the gaming populace, and outside a very popular Switch game, nothing really stood out. So for some reason this masterpiece is sitting on the virtual "back shelf" of Steam collecting dust. Please buy and review this game, it deserves so much more attention, and a sequel.

I'm playing through my steam library in mostly alphabetical order and thought it would be fun to give short steam reviews for each game if I would recommend them or not. Turn-based roguelikes is a genre that is quite intriguing to me. Sadly, this game didn't hook me. The combats felt boring and very "bigger number wins" with not much tactics, and despite the graphics definitely having real effort put into them, I just don't think it looks good. The way the characters break their neck to stare at you looks especially bad. This leads to a game I find quite boring gameplay wise and quite ugly looks wise. This game has overwhelmingly positive, and definitely for a reason. There are things here to like, and I would not be able to call this game "bad" outright by any means and other reviewers and players seem to love it, but from my own view it was simply not enjoyable. 4/10 (Also, the price is a bit steep)

Was a fun mobile game, but linking with my steam corrupted both accounts, and ruined my progress and stole the dlc on the mobile version (actually stole 30$ worth of dlc, now the account says it doesn't match credentials, despite my logins going through successfully. Cannot start the game. So actually stealing my money leaves me with a do not recommend.

This scratches every itch for me personally, one of my top favorite games. It is dangerous how time will slip away when I play. Very excited for multiplayer, got my team built already!

Great roguelike/tactics/deckbuilder with great mechanics. Suprisingly deep and every run feels different.
