Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny

Worse than Onimusha 1 in pretty much every way. The backgrounds look like blurry ♥♥♥♥ in motion. Samanosuke > Jubei. Now hurry up and give us Jean Reno

A great improvement from the original and has still held up great to this day. With multiple story paths depending on the companions you bond with, increased combat capabilities, roughly 3x as long and better replayability, I can highly recommend it to those who enjoy PS2-era games or feudal Japan themed games.

Onimusha 2 does a pretty solid job at being a direct sequel with new additions features and a companion mechanic baked in that provides additional story routes and cutscenes depending on who you gain positive or negative friendship points with new companion characters. I did think the story was a little lighter and less strong as the first game but it still left me highly entertained with its 'charming' voice acting and cutscenes. Some fun boss encounters throughout as well! Plenty of content and with so many different story routes its a easy recommendation if you enjoyed what made the first game so great then you'll have a pretty good time with this one easily :)

Onimusha 2 pega tudo o primeiro jogo e expande (exceto o aprimoramento de consumíveis). A história é mais longa e ramificada, tem sistemas de amizade que influenciam na história, upgrade de armadura, uma cidade hub pra voltar, os gráficos desse remaster são bem melhores que do primeiro jogo e a dificuldade é um pouco melhor balanceada. O grande problema do jogo é a câmera fixa, que às vezes tem 4 ângulos diferentes na mesma sala e a luta maior é tentar enxergar os inimigos ao invés de tentar acertar os golpes. Fora isso é um jogaço. Recomendo!

Check out my short Onimusha: Warlords Review for reference. So, before finally jumping into Onimusha: Way of the Sword this was the last I had to finish. Since the third Game is not (yet) on Steam and I don't want to play it with dubious methods, this is the only Onimusha I had left to play beforehand. (Obviously I finished Onimusha: Warlords first.) So just as I did in my Onimusha: Warlords Review, here are a few short stats for my very first blind playthrough: - Steam says 11.6 hours, 42/56 Achievements - Game says 9.45 hours, 126610 Souls absorbed, 1364 Enemies defeated, 32 Criticals (I will talk about that later on), 21/41 Phantom Realm Floors Accessed, 73 Saves (I want to be safe), 64% Story completion (57% Oyu, 9% Kotaru, 100% Magoichi, 50% Ekei), Rank B (for Bad; not the Game, probably me) Alright, with that out of the way, let's talk about the Game itself. Graphics are a step up from Onimusha: Warlords. Sound and Music were really good, voice acting was also pretty good (played in japanese with english subtitles again). The Game seemed more colorful.
