Farewell North

Nowadays I'm way more interested in the story-🏁-% instead of júst the rating-%(s) and [i]Farewell North[/i], as of writing, was unlocked by ónly 19.6% ... While usually not interested in Walking Simulators at all, it's great that our loyal companion can run by default and then there's a sprint stamina, which can be increased over time 💡Still, sometimes I was just forced to walk and at times I couldn't even jump — being on rails while paying attention to the narrative. Speaking of it, it was personally too much talk for me at times while moving at the same time, but above all, [b]I failed to click with the (new) owner/daughter[/b]; i.e. I constantly noticed a mismatch between her and the (fine) voice acting, which is essentially due to barely any facial expression and overall I didn't really feel invited/comforted, sadly. I'm by no means an expert in this department, but with otherwise beautiful graphics and a fine-looking dog, what was up with this?! 🤔 Fortunately the only crucial aspect while otherwise an audiovisual gem! In terms of gameplay? Well, it gets progressively better and there's even some Stealth later on, but sometimes it had become a drag and repetitive occasion…

It's one of those games that I wish I could give a "Maybe" rating to. Is it hot garbage? No. Is it an amazing game? Also no. Pros: You get to play a dog 'Open' world exploration (many small islands you must boat to) The story Cons: You 'get' to play the dog. (trust me, it's good and bad) 'Open' world exploration. It turns out that rowing a kayak around with no world map and looking for collectables just becomes annoying and tedious after 5 minutes. The dog's Stamina. Why can the dog only sprint for 3 seconds like Adam Jenson? All in all, the game IS good. I'd say if it looks interesting, get it on sale. I simply feel that the game's Steam ratings are overly positive for what it is. That said, it's pretty impressive that the game was made mostly by 1 guy, even if he did outsource a lot of the work (per the credits). If you love Scottish culture, dogs, or open world walking simulators, this game COULD be for you.

Gorgeous game all around; story, graphics, music. Great for someone looking for a slow-burn story-based game.

The 3rd part made me so emotionally uncomfortable. Knowing how they feel, I'm never getting a dog. Okay. I've finished the game. This is with no doubt a good game. The puzzles are straight forward. I had not encountered anything in particular which is hard or challenging. It's a bit pricy tho. Buy it when there's a sale.

Do you love dogs? Prepare yourself for a beautiful, emotionally devastating journey where you can chase things, bark at people, & hang out in a canoe while your human tries very hard to control it (poorly). This is just as much a piece of art as it is a game. If you love dogs, play this, bark until your human pets you, & bring tissues for the ending.
