✦ AI summary

Warrior Kings: Battles is a remarkably complex real-time strategy game from 2003 that impresses players with its depth in faction development, siege warfare, economic management, and tactical gameplay, holding up well with community patches despite its age. However, the game demands significant patience due to its steep learning curve and high difficulty, making it best suited for veterans of older RTS titles rather than newcomers.

Great game that still stands up today with the WideScreen patch. Note that this version is 1.1 (for whatver reasons, thanks Steam) and you'll need to patch it to V 1.23 to use the widescreen fix

Warrior Kings: Battles is an unusually ambitious real-time strategy game that still manages to distinguish itself through the scale and complexity of its warfare. Originally released in 2003, it comes from Black Cactus, with Strategy First serving as the publisher of the Steam version. Its age is impossible to hide, but the underlying strategy remains deeper than the presentation initially suggests. One of its most appealing qualities is the freedom surrounding faction development. Players begin from relatively similar circumstances before their choices lead toward different ideological and technological paths. These directions affect available buildings, upgrades, and military units, giving matches a meaningful sense of progression. The system …

This is an old game from my childhood, it surprises me to no end how complex this game was for an RTS title, even to this day few RTS games are as complex as this one was, full 3D, elevation modifiers, multiple tech paths, well balanced, and much more. I DO NOT recommend this game to just anyone, the difficulty is high, the learning curve is steep, and unless you grew up with this game or old games in general I would not suggest playing it. BUT if you do, you'll likely enjoy this game, and look at modern RTS games and wonder why they aren't better.
