Ryse: Son of Rome

Gameplay wise, it's quite a simple, combat focused game, but it shines brighter in it's Story and graphics -- the narrative the game induces, aided by the intensive, near constant combat and good graphics (by 2013 Crytek standards, known also by Crysis), keeps you focused to forget almost everything else while playing. At first, when I got back in the game in 2026, it was all just about getting the last achievements required to complete the set and just move on to the next game. However, surprisingly, the multiplayer community is pretty much still alive even after 13 years of the game's release and you can still find players from around the world in the Community posts to add to your friends list and help you get the multiplayer ones. This game has been, indeed, a new experience for me... one that I started 13 years ago and may stick with me for a long time from now on. I might just stick around to keep the chain going if new players eventually show up, who knows? All I know is that this game may not leave my favorites for a long time... and that's a DIFFICULT, YET DESERVED SPOT TO BE EARNED.

about 30 minutes into my gameplay I watched my father get stabbed by a barbarian as if the game hasn't traumatised me enough it takes me to war not even 5 minutes later and I watch as my commanders, fellow roman soldiers and others die in battle. then the game instructs me to destroy a tower so our fleet can enter barbarian grounds to which I find a bridge blocked by barbarian archers and opposite to the archers was our banner and noticed it was interactive, seizing the opportunity I disregard the banner and began to aura farm facing the archers alone without hesitation they bombard me and bathe me in flaming hot steel arrows and I died in just 5 seconds. I realized afterwards that the banner was there for me to form a shield barrier alongside my men to ensure our survival 10/10 game

WOW. One of the best games I have ever played in my life. The story is flat out amazing. The combat mechanics are addicting/gory. The graphics are phenomenal for a 2013 game. I rate this game a 8/10. Seriously if you haven't played this hidden gem I highly recommend it. Tips for low fps: Turn Latency on to Ultra and cap frame rate to 70 (I did this all on Nvidia App and copied the same results to Nvidia Control Panel just for safe measures. Reopen and close the game until your frames are stable. Everything else is maxed out. Took me a bit to fix it but well worth it.

First of all if you are trying to play this game on a newer AMD GPU and facing problems with micro stutters then make sure to turn on AMD Chill for this game and limit the frames to 90 and 120, when I first started this game I had alot of micro stutters which really ruined the experience for me and I had to look online for hours to find a solution since apparently no one cares enough about this game to patch it or mod it I guess but I think any form of external frame limiting will work since the Crytek engine seems to not like the fact that your hardware can run this game at a very high rate. As for the game itself well I cant speak for the multiplayer since it is impossible to find a match nowadays unless you match with a group of friends which this game does have a coop campaign and death match style options but as your neighborhood friendless gamer I didn't feel like subjecting my wife to this game when we can play much more fun games together, so long story short this review is purely for the single player and I don't advise you to try and 100% this game because many of the achievements are multiplayer only.
