"256vs256" is a garbage asset flipped RTS game, a minimum viable product dumped on Steam and infested with a cash shop. There's no game worth playing here, but wow, one must applaud the sheer audacity of making such a garbage product and putting a cash shop in it. The graphics aren't great... the soldier assets are flippy, and the rest is just barebones minimum. That will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. On pricing and value for gamers, this isn't really free as the game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 11 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't…4 found this helpful
Bear's Take: "256vs256" - a game that promises to blend the strategic mastery of 'Go' and 'Chess' with the chaotic thrill of real-time battles, all wrapped up in a nostalgic package reminiscent of childhood playtime with plastic army figures. But does it deliver on these grand promises, or does it fall flat like a deflated beach ball? Sip 'n' Savor: "256vs256" invites players to relive the glory days of battling miniature armies in their bedrooms, but this time in a digital arena. While the concept is as enticing as a honey-filled picnic basket, the execution feels more like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Single-player mode lacks the polish and optimization needed to keep players engaged beyond a fleeting moment of nostalgia. Milk Mustache Moment: Despite its best efforts to evoke warm childhood memories, "256vs256" struggles to recapture the magic of those epic bedroom battles. The lack of clear instructions for multiplayer mode leaves players feeling as lost as a cub in a snowstorm, while repetitive gameplay mechanics fail to spark the same joy as the original plastic army figures. Roar Factor: "256vs256" charges onto the battlefield with the zeal of a bear protec…2 found this helpful
