Cool dark story, but terrible controls and ridiculous difficulty spikes. Would be fine for $5, but not $25.

Cool theme and atmosphere but the control scheme is atrocious and you are not allowed to change it, enemies detect you through walls and there are many instant death floor tiles. You save the game by smoking which is a 10 second (cancellable) animation that would've been fine to combat savescumming as it is prevalent with the stealth genre but I genuinely do not wish to save every 5 steps I make in case if I fall into some death pit again while I'm trying to sneak. The fact that none of the characters speak (outside of the main character) where SOUND is a vital part of the gameplay takes the horror element practically completely out of the game, this is funny considering that Darkwood was released in the same year as this! Overall this game shows that just because your game (Alone in the Dark, 1992) was proclaimed as defining the survival-horror game (by pure luck tbh) doesn't mean that you can do it again, since it was the games that came afterward that improved upon the original design. Also I just find it funny that the main character is very likely a self-insert of Frédérick Raynal for no reason. Shows just how much these dev are full of themselves.

That game really surprised me. You play as a man whose wife was killed and whose kids were kidnapped, and you must stop a sinister scheme created by some weird people while rescuing as many kids as you can. You can choose how to play and use lots of stealth tactics, which is really cool and fun. If you hate rich people who get oiled up or go to islands, this is your game.

it's very heavy, but I liked Smith, also the gameplay and visuals. the rats were a bit annoying. I would've liked a more happy ending, though is understandable why currently like this.

wow what a bad game...annoying sounds like constantly HmMmMM from your own character, kids constantly screaming like you are the babysitter for the worst kids on the world and then there are the small animal enemies. Never heard of this game until I got into Alone in the dark and now I know why. Sounds and those enemies I could bare, but those are not my only complaints: combat is also crap with stealth too slow to catch up with your enemies and those "sneak attacks" often times dont kill with the first hit. So now I'm stuck at the end of the garage of level 1 cause there is this one dude who takes more hits than his own mother...and those controls...hold RB, use the right stick AND CLICK A...did someone test this game before release and said:"nice man I broke my thumb switching my weapon."
