6-Mon Adventure

"6-Mon Adventure" is a cute student project from Objectif 3D in France. This time the students made a third person platformer. Yawn. It's ok I guess, but once more we have to ask why it's good for gamers when every educational institution under the sun is dumping student homework assignements on Steam. What do you do in the game? Third person platforming in a cartoony sci-fi environment. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Fun little game with cute boss fight in the end that I was able to finish in 40 minutes. If your reaction time isn't as moderate as mid 30s guy like me you can probably finish in about 25 minutes. Great design, fun is there the only downside is controller support. A game like this would have been much better to experience with a controller but it's a free well done indie/small studio product so I will conclude as saying polished and well done. It's also done on UE4 so not demanding at all. 100% recommended and following the developers now for future product(s) if they continue.
