AlternativA is a point and click cyberpunk game that came out a decade before Cyberpunk 2077 propelled the genre to global fame. Set in a dystopian 2045 Prague, the city has survived the third world war caused by the invention of android robots and has restructured itself into three districts (Government, Industrial and Slums) separated by walls, with a high-level railway network connecting them that requires identification in the form of a travel pass with a limited charge, and power is now consolidated between three entities: the State; Endora, a construction conglomerate; and Theolex, the manufacturer of androids. You play as Richard Rocek, a commuter and construction worker raised by his foster father and bartender Tom, who lives in the Slums district with his roommate and coworker Andy, and Richard starts the game being evicted from the Industry district due to Endora’s mass layoff and has his access card to the district revoked by the android guardians. This also includes his right to use the city’s metro network, forcing him, now unemployed, to walk all the way back to his apartment. Unwilling to do so, you start the game trying to figure out how Richard can illegally recha…

Alternativa is a story-driven science-fiction adventure developed by Centauri Production and published by Bohemia Interactive. Set in a grim vision of the mid-21st century, the game presents a world where social inequality, authoritarian control, and political unrest have reshaped everyday life. Rather than relying on spectacle or action-heavy sequences, Alternativa focuses on narrative depth, investigative gameplay, and the gradual unraveling of a complex conspiracy. It embraces the traditions of classic point-and-click adventures while placing players inside a detailed cyberpunk setting filled with uncertainty, corruption, and difficult choices. The game's greatest achievement is its atmosphere. The future depicted here is not a glamorous technological utopia but a decaying society struggling under the weight of oppressive institutions and unchecked power. Every location contributes to this bleak tone, from industrial districts and crowded urban centers to government-controlled facilities and neglected neighborhoods. The detailed backgrounds successfully create a sense of place, making the world feel believable despite its futuristic setting. The environmental design constantly …

Unplayable. The game constantly crashed, forcing me to save after nearly every action just to avoid losing progress. At times it would freeze completely, requiring a full restart. The characters also glitched repeatedly, and the only way to keep things moving was by repeatedly hitting the Windows key. I eventually reached Brazil, but then became completely stuck... movement, interactions, and dialogue options all stopped working. I couldn’t even exit the game normally and had to close it through Task Manager. I tried several times, but kept encountering the same issue at that exact point. I’ve now uninstalled the game.
