Warning: Asset Flip! "Apocalypse Island" is one of literally thousands of creatively bankrupt asset flips infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere.

Warning: Unity License Violation
This is a collection of Synty assets, most specifically the Synty Zombies Pack and a few other asset packs mangled in a blender and dumped on a basic survival game blueprint from the asset store. So, "Apocalypse Island" is partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Little, if anything in this game is the creation of the "developer". While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "Apocalypse Island", and this kind of asset flipping never results in games that have …7 found this helpful
Positive: 🏝️ Apocalypse Island offers a basic survival setup with exploration, resource management, and zombie encounters on a deserted island. Hunger, thirst, and stamina systems give some structure to the experience, and the open environment allows a bit of freedom in how you move and explore. 🧟 The game also includes Steam achievements tied to progression, exploration, and combat, giving clear objectives along the way. Negative: 🔄 Despite its ideas, the execution feels shallow and unfinished. Survival mechanics lack depth, progression is minimal, and gameplay quickly becomes repetitive with little variation in enemies, objectives, or world interaction. ⚙️ The island itself feels static, with few meaningful events or reasons to keep exploring after the initial discovery phase. Combat and crafting exist, but neither evolves enough to stay engaging over time. 🏆 Completionists & Achievement Hunters: 🎖️ Achievements are straightforward and mostly unlock through normal progression rather than challenge or mastery. ⏱️ While all achievements are obtainable, they don’t significantly enhance the experience or provide strong motivation to keep playing. Overall: Apocalypse Island ha…3 found this helpful
Optimization sucks. I have a 3060 and a ryzen 5 5600 and my game is at 70fps. I changed the graphics but nothing changed at all. Bruh. But this game has potention anyway, I can see it. Maybe if the interface were similar to famous zombie games like DayZ or Dying Light, it would be a much better game. The game's story is bad too.2 found this helpful
I love survival games, and I love the zombie apocalypse. I can see where this is heading and I believe this can turn out to be a fun game. Currently this game is lacking and kind of wonky. Anything that doesn't have structures is empty and void, not really fun exploring besides staying at urban places, bases of which I assume to be private or military lacks worth in exploring, not many threats and the loot is varies and can be mediocre depending where you start. Framerate is a bit buggy and likes to stutter and drop during movement but standing still its fine Music repeats itself in a non-loop so its a bit awkward But overall I feel like down the road this has potential into being a fun game to play around with. For $1.99, I would much rather go play Unturned. Hope to see more! If this game was free during these early stages, I would recommend it. But compared to other titles such as Unturned, I would not recommend getting this game until a few more updates and improvements! <31 found this helpful
Rating - Meh... Really confusing on whats going on... Your left on a island with almost no guide on what to do and where to go.... Load save dosnt even work... Lots of bugs and undone sides with glitches... Feels like the dev himself gave up on the game after releasing it.
looks REALLY choppy at the bottom of my FOV, even at 144 fps. started the tutorial, went in the house, tried to go outside but got stuck in the doorway when I tried to build a campfire. Started the tutorial again, also got stuck making the campfire.
