Mining is about as simple as a game can get. I am basically clicking on a pile of material to mine it, with the chance of getting minerals as I keep going. There is no big story or complicated system getting in the way, and the whole thing is built around that one simple action. I actually think that simplicity is part of the appeal because I can start playing immediately without having to learn anything first. The basic mining loop is easy to understand. I click the pile, collect what I get and keep going, with minerals giving me something to look out for while I continue mining. It has that very simple idle and clicker feeling where I can spend a few minutes doing it without needing to give the game my full attention.
