About Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

✦ AI summary

Lead an empire's soldier and a village boy through a war-torn continent where magic, rune-lenses, and conflicting ideals collide across a rich tapestry of nations. Recruit over a hundred diverse characters and experience a sweeping JRPG story inspired by the legendary Suikoden series.

Our story begins in one corner of Allraan, a tapestry of nations with diverse cultures and values.
By dint of sword, and by way of magical objects known as “rune-lenses,” the land’s history has been shaped by the alliances and aggressions of the humans, beastmen, elves, and desert people who live there.

The Galdean Empire has edged out other nations and discovered a technology that amplifies the rune-lenses’ magic.

Now, the Empire is scouring the continent for an artifact that will expand their power even further.
It is on one such expedition that Seign Kesling, a young and gifted imperial officer, and Nowa, a boy from a remote village, meet each other and become friends.
However, a twist of fate will soon drag them into the fires of war, and force them both to reexamine everything they believe to be right and true.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes became the #1 funded Kickstarter video game of 2020 thanks to phenomenal support from the community. 505 Games is truly honored to publish Eiyuden Chronicle and work with Rabbit & Bear to help deliver a memorable gaming experience to fans. The game is fun and I've almost beat it, but there are things that the devs need to come back and fix, or someone needs to mod. For me, the biggest it rune allowance and the next is unskippable animations. Rune Allowance: If you want a party of fun characters, you are going to have a really rough time in fights as the fun characters have the worst rune allowance. Runes have a strength from 1-4 stars and characters have 4-8 rune slots that have an allowance from 2-4. The problem is that fun characters have 4 slots with 3 having an allowance of 2. Want to use the luchador? Great, just make sure you are ready to rest him every fight. Want to use the cool samurai? archer? Awesome, just make sure you don't mind her barely doing damage. What about the bazooka lady? She can't use any of the runes to make her helpful. Rune allowance take most if the fun characters and make them unusable. Unskippable Animations: War battles, eggfoot races, and card battles become a true slog and push you away from wanting to engage with them when most of the time spent on these minigames is spent watching the game sloooooooooooowly get to the point where you can act again.

Pros : - Combat system similar to Suikoden - Music is ok - Almost all conversations voiced - Character design and animation is good Cons : - Lack of sound effect - Story is mid - The 3D Environment and 3D Enemies sometime ruins the visual - The random encounter is a bit too often - Lack of buff, debuff, and skill combo compared to other jrpg like persona or octopath - Too much mini games and side content instead of the main content duration itself - The exploration and puzzle is kinda boring Overall : 5/10 I would like to rates " normal " instead of positive if steam allows it

Can't recommend it. Played a little over 5 hours and it felt like a complete slog the entire time. For a game that released relatively recently, it feels like a game that didn't learn from the old games in terms of what NOT to do. Slow movement, intentionally slow menu navigations, horrible camera angles and controls, frustrating boss gimmicks based that are based on randomness. The only thing that it has going for it is the pretty art. I just can't keep playing it. Not recommended.

First of all, don’t go into this game expecting another Suikoden just because it was obviously marketed around that connection and you can clearly see some of its influence. I think that expectation is exactly what ruined the experience for some people. Honestly? I loved this game. I enjoyed the characters, the battles, the progression, recruiting people, slowly building up your castle and watching it turn into this whole little community. The music was amazing, I enjoyed the story, and overall I genuinely felt like this was just a very well-made JRPG. Of course I could see the Suikoden DNA in it. That’s obvious. But I never needed it to be an exact copy of Suikoden for me to enjoy it. I just took it for what it was, and on its own I thought it was so much fun. And I honestly don’t fully understand when people say they loved Suikoden but had absolutely no interest in this game, because yes, it’s not the same thing, but there are clearly so many elements here that should still feel familiar and enjoyable if that style of JRPG is something you miss. I also loved all the random side activities inside the castle, especially the theatre, it was pretty funny. I haven’t played the …
