LiEat

This is a short, gentle, quietly devastating little story about the lies we eat, the ones we tell, and the ones we become. Please do not let the price tag fool you into thinking it will not hurt. The protagonist is pretty interesting, a small optimistic dragon girl that eats lies. Not metaphorically. People tell lies, the lies manifest as actual monsters, and she fights and devours them for sustenance. It sounds whimsical on paper and it mostly is, right up until the game quietly starts asking why people lie in the first place, and the answers get sadder and more human with every chapter. Grief, guilt, self-deception, the lies people tell to survive their own lives. This tiny bite sized JRPG has more emotional range than games ten times its length.

Lieat 3 was amazing and i loved how they included facts in Lieat 1 and 2 that showed up in Lieat 3.

Once again, Miwashiba manages to build an incredible world with just a few quick sentences of set-up, then goes and explores so many interesting concepts, while still weaving a story that's a classic and has iterations in a lot of more mundane settings. Efina is an adorable protagonist, and Leo is a charming scoundrel. But my favorite have to be Brett and William! Brett is such an interesting character, balancing his trauma and stand-offish nature with his genuine desire to do good and help others, and William has that same desire, but his naiveté makes him so easy to manipulate and exploit... The game is a lot of fun, and the final chapter answered a lot of the central mystery, while also leaving enough in the dark for maybe a potential possible sequel, should Miwashiba ever decide to return to this world!

Fun art style and nice music. Wish it was longer.

There are three games included in LiEat and they are all fairly short yet highly satisfying. I felt that every character I encountered throughout the story was well written and had their own distinct personality, which made them interesting to talk to outside of mandatory dialogue. Despite the length of the games, it was easy to bond with the characters and empathise with them. Even those who only appeared briefly. I thought that the games had interesting premises, fun fighting mechanics (the fights weren't overly long), and that the music fit the theme of the series extremely well. It was a very cute and heartwarming series which didn't feel the need to be carried by its unique art alone and I enjoyed it very much!
