Ashi: Lake of Light

guide the flying insect to the exit by lighting candles. a lit one means a turn, an unlit one gets ignored, but there are multiple stages of litness to force a different change in direction (90 degrees or more). clicking candles doesn't draw a path, so [b]it's trial & error: the game[/b], what with planning blindly until the insect is clicked and it all plays out, only then do you get a path to look at. 90 levels with branching progression, but save for a few challenge levels on the side, all of them have to be completed to carry on. the level counter is buggy too, says 92. levels don't get reset automatically after an incorrect solution but there's a reset button, except it doesn't work. further mechanics include color change for the insect to focus on different candles, mandatory teleporters, tunnels for diagonal movement, blockers and movable candles. the latter is a bit clunky and mobile-like, dragging instead of a simple click-click action, but any available slot can be chosen at least, no need to move one by one. settings are poor. separate toggles, no volumes, only in the main menu, and yes, they can bug out too. resolutions and windowed mode only via the unity launcher on…

The game atmosphere is relaxing, but the puzzles are brain melting. Excellent little puzzle game.

A very cozy puzzle game that was good fun - my only issue with the puzzles came with the gear candles, as moving them around quickly became frustrating. Overall though - clean visuals, excellent vibes, challenging but not overly difficult (i cruised through most of the levels up until around 60) and a nice way to spend a few hours. Worth a good play.

Ashi: Lake of Light is a very good puzzler that has zen vibes. The first thing I liked is the menu, it is the first thing you interact with after watching few logos :) The whole game is beautifully stylized. I love the transitions between levels. The music is good, bit repetitive but that is a minor complaint. This is a puzzle game. So what about puzzles ? Well, the puzzles are simple but hit that sweet spot if you are suffering from puzzler fatigue like I am. Nice difficulty curve, easy at first but they get harder toward the end. By harder I mean medium difficulty, complex but never frustrating. I can recommend this to anyone who likes puzzlers.

Love the game, a pleasing puzzler with a charming aesthetic and enjoyable game-play that does steadily increase in difficulty but remains possible to figure out at each stage. Only downside is no steam achievements.

I haven’t finished Ashi: Lake of Light yet, but I’m already in love with it! The glowing landscapes and peaceful atmosphere are stunning—it’s like stepping into a fairytale. The puzzles are just the right level of challenging, and the soundtrack is so calming. As someone who once failed at assembling IKEA furniture (let’s just say I’m not handy), I can confirm this game is way more satisfying than my real-life skills. If you’re looking for a magical and relaxing escape, this is it!
