Story

The town of Hallfein once rested on the border between three provinces, prospering thanks to mining and trade.
However, a mysterious tragedy struck the peaceful town, and most of its residents completely vanished.
Hallfein became a restricted area, and access was forbidden to all except investigators from the capital.

Years passed, and the restrictions were eventually lifted, after which plans to restore the town were put together. Taking this opportunity, a young man and young woman follow their hearts and return to Hallfein after being forced to leave it so long ago; the young woman wanting to restore the shop previously run by her missing grandfather, and the young man hoping to learn more about the items left to him by his departed father. They both also seek to learn why the town's residents vanished that day.

The two will meet and set out on a journey in search of the truth together. However, neither could imagine just what would await them on that journey.

Another banger "side" mainline game. Sophie 2, Red&White and Lulua (if it counts?) are some of the entries I really love. I love the battle system in this game, definitely one of the best we have had! (Just wish there were some more interesting boss mechanics and such, two bosses were pretty nice though). The alchemy was... good, I prefer it way more over Ryza and Yumia, mostly because trait blending adds a lot of depths into these games. While the alchemy looks simple with its color matching, the game does give you quite a bit of options to manipulate and do some interesting stuff. However despite the depths it has, I will have to say that the alchemy can be clunky at times... Characters are enjoyable, the main duo is pretty much awesome and definitely the main point of the game. (Seeing Raze again after such a long time is also fun) Good game, would recommend!

It's got good alchemy and combat, but I wish it was more separate from the world of the Atelier Resleriana gacha game, not only are most characters one-note returnees without the character arcs that are present in the rest of the Atelier games, but there's also references to a world you will only experience if you play said gacha game. Assuming you haven't played it, I recommend this game as long as you don't mind a different kind of Atelier story; a more gameplay-centered experience where the core of the storytelling is focused only on the two main characters and their town.

Finished the game recently after a very long hiatus. I can confidently say it's a solid game on its own. All the systems work and compliment each other, resources hoarding going into crafting and into shop / town development. Art style make up for the simplier graphic fidelity. Game is easy to run at high fps. UI is not only visualy pleasing, it allows for multiple types of input on the fly. Music: memorable although a good partion comes from the gacha entry. Combat: an excellent addition to the turn based family. Story wise, it's not that much of a big deal if you haven't played the discontinued gacha game (on global server). And speaking of story, just like with Atelier Yumia, the protagonists Rias and Slade grew on me. The lighthearted / slice of life tone (and some comedy gold) can leave some room for some dark turns and emotional bits. Biggest issues however would be some road blocks like that one particular boss half-way through the story, and story progression which is tied to mandatory shop / town management.

I didn't really enjoy this Atelier. The alchemy worked against you to produce items with relevant traits and the story was kind of a letdown.

Cutscene watching simulator. The crafting system became shallower compared to earlier games in the series. Also the amount of handholding in the first 10 hours is insane. They pre-select a choice for you and wouldn't let you change it, to the point you just continue clicking "ok" for half an hour without even noticing which menu items are being highlighted. I'm sure it opens up a bit more later, but if you're considering your first Atelier game - I'd recommend choosing any of the previous ones over this.
