✦ AI summary

The game itself has an engaging adventure-themed story with charming characters and good music that players enjoy, but the PC port is severely hampered by frequent crashes, unstable performance across systems, and lack of autosave that causes progress loss. Additionally, quality-of-life features like inventory space and ending accessibility are inferior compared to other games in the Arland trilogy, making it difficult to recommend unless heavily discounted.

Please don’t buy this game. It might be one of the worst PC ports I’ve ever played. I’ve played it on 2 windows PCs and a Steam Deck and it works when it feels like it and that’s the best you’re going to get. The game itself is fantastic. The port is almost criminal and I can’t believe stuff like this can be sold on Steam. The game crashes constantly. About 5-6 hours of my 30 ish hours have been debugging the dang thing. Movies play on Steam Deck sometimes, without audio sometimes, or not at all, sometimes. This is without changing settings or anything. I’ve never seen a game that just decides if it’s going to work properly on its own like this. Extremely frustrating because the game itself is wonderful, but I would try to find literally any other way to play it. Don’t buy this one.

1000 inventory space is pain. The gameplay experience is by far the worst in the Arland trilogy. Both Rorona and Meruru have 2000 inventory spaces and much better quality of life features (you can equip the adventure tools instead of having to carry it in your basket, you unlock the fast travel feature much earlier, you get to choose the endings if you reach the requirements for multiple endings) I would only recommend the game if the game is on discount. you have tried other game in the Arland trilogy and you fine with the 1000 inventory space restriction.

It's hard to fully not recommend Totori because maybe part of my not liking it nearly as much as Rorona is due to it those two being the only two Atelier games I've played? But there were so many frustrations and mechanics I didn't enjoy that I can't imagine recommending it over Rorona to anyone so No it is. I had heard it was much more punishing than the other games in the trilogy, but it turns out that the time limit itself wasn't even close to my biggest issue; I had no interest in trying to mix-max following a guide the whole time to get the True Ending so I just played the game going for finishing it at all and it turned out that was much more forgiving than I expected it to be. The opening section of the game drags, and until the point where I unlocked the ability to use the lab and take requests in Arland the only thing keeping me going was stubbornness because the idea of wasting a bunch of days every time I wanted to rank up, buy recipes or items from the majority of the merchants, or make armour/weapons and then more to be able to take quests again almost made me quit. Overall the mechanics just didn't work for me nearly as well, even if the experience from Rorona m…
