Not scary, obtuse, poor excuse for "combat", misunderstands the film, tedious as hell. Why do people like this?
Not a single utilization of the Blair Witch has understood what made the movie good. Slop.
If one were to document one of the few great success stories that have occurred in the video games industry over the course of the past ten years, it could easily be argued that among the most successful of them was the rise of Polish game developer Bloober Team. Beginning their creative rise with the pioneering Psychodramatic Walking Simulator "Layers of Fear" in 2016, Bloober have since gone on to become one of the leading narrative game developers in the world thanks to their innovative mix of emotionally engaging story-telling and taut, tense gameplay dynamics. 2019's Movie tie-in for the "Blair Witch" franchise - a fitting break into the big time given that the BW franchise was itself a genre pioneer - marks a natural progression for the development team and was in many respects a transitional follow-up to their previous game: the "Blade Runner" inspired Sci-Fi Noir "Observer". Much like the aforementioned dystopian cyber-sleuth-em-up, the aim of the game in "Blair Witch" is primarily crime investigation, with players once again hot on the trail of an elusive missing person. This time, players find themselves in the shoes of war veteran Ellis, a grissled generic everyman…
Play with the in-game Brigtness at minimum, and wear headphones. It is scary as hell.
