Ball Game (2024)

played this game for 40 minutes beat the boss and my screen turned black and i lost. overall an experience that i wish upon my worst enemies, this is one of the layers of hell.

Ball Game is a surprisingly strange little platformer, and I liked how it starts off looking like a simple physics game before the atmosphere becomes much more uncomfortable. I control a ball through a series of increasingly difficult courses while trying to reach the finish without taking too many mistakes. The basic idea is simple, but the strange personality of the host gives the whole thing a much more unsettling feeling than I expected. The gameplay is mostly about controlling momentum and learning how each obstacle works. I have to roll, bounce, jump, aim and release myself at the right time, while some sections require rotating walls or carefully timing moving parts. I enjoyed the variety because each section asks me to approach the ball differently instead of relying on one movement trick for the entire game. The time limits add some extra pressure too. I cannot simply sit around experimenting forever, so I have to balance caution with speed. I liked that because some of the physics puzzles become much more stressful when I know I am running out of time. Difficulty is closer to precision than casual. Reminds me of Obby But You're A Ball, but with Baldi-esque narration.
