Baseless is widely praised as an underrated gem with innovative gameplay that fuses shooting and movement into a cohesive mechanic, creating engaging bullet-hell action with a charming aesthetic and story. Players appreciate the simple controls, satisfying physics-based movement, variety of abilities, and the passion evident in its design, though some find the final levels significantly spike in difficulty and introduce frustrating mechanics that clash with the more relaxed earlier game. The brevity of the seven-level campaign is noted as a minor concern, though most feel the content is meaty
100% Baseless is a very underrated game that features a simple control scheme that leads to pretty challenging bullet-hell style gameplay with a pretty cute story to back it up. It took a minute to click with the movement, but once you get a grasp and try some of the other power ups and abilities to see what you like, it leads to a very fun experience overall. Genuinely an amazing game, one of the best I have played this year so far. My only possible complaint I have is it's decently short with only 7 levels, but those levels feel amazing and there is still a lot of content to consume within those levels and even in the main hub world. You can truly feel the passion and character behind this game, and since the game is relatively unknown, it was a lot of fun theorycrafting my own strategies on what I believed to be optimal for success. I highly recommend this game and hope for more content in the future!3 found this helpful
This game is shockingly under the radar and deserves so much more attention and love than it is getting. Idk if I'd call it a "roguelike" or "roguelite" but it is definitely a unique and fun experience.3 found this helpful
Baseless is a boldly experimental action game that immediately distinguishes itself through a single, uncompromising idea: movement is inseparable from shooting. Developed by Fermenter Games and published by First Break Labs, the game takes the familiar framework of a fast-paced shooter and rebuilds it around physics, momentum, and spatial awareness. Rather than treating guns as tools solely for offense, Baseless turns every shot into a locomotion decision, forcing players to think about positioning, trajectory, and timing with every pull of the trigger. The central mechanic defines the entire experience. The protagonist cannot walk or jump in any traditional sense; instead, firing a weapon propels the character in the opposite direction of the shot. Aiming downward launches you upward, firing sideways sends you skidding across curved planetary surfaces, and poorly timed shots can easily fling you into hazards or enemy fire. At first, this control scheme feels alien and even hostile, especially for players accustomed to conventional twin-stick or run-and-gun shooters. Early encounters often involve accidental overcorrections and frantic attempts to regain control. However, as musc…3 found this helpful
I was transported back to PSP era games in the best way possible. This brought me back to the days of playing Patapon on my PSP. The aesthetic, gameplay, and story are all delightful. Using your gun for movement is fun and a bit stressful at the same time. Now I want a Patapon roguelike, wait did they make that? A really good time if you are a fan of any of the genres listed. I recommend this game if you miss your PSP.2 found this helpful
