About Beastieball

Coach a sports team of Beasties in this turn-based volleyball RPG!

Beasties' teamwork is powered up by the relationships they form together. Whether they become BESTIES, PARTNERS, RIVALS or SWEETHEARTS they'll get a powerful combo move that's unique to every pair and can turn the tide in a tough match!

Explore an open world and meet a varied cast of Ranked coaches, each with their own story. You'll have to defeat them and raise your ranking if you want to compete in the CROWN SERIES.

Bosses are all revealed on your map from the start and can be defeated in any order. With each one you defeat, the others become stronger, so no matter which way you go you'll have a tough and exciting rise to the top.

Play sports in strategic turn-based encounters on a tiny tactics grid. When you have the ball, you have multiple actions to pass and set up a devastating attack. When the other team has the ball, you'll have to anticipate their attack and make a defense play.

Every Beastie has unique traits, strengths and weaknesses and they have many ways to work together, lending a great deal of depth and strategy to every match.
There's more to making it in the Beastieball League than playing sports! Ranked coaches you defeat become available to hang out, allowing you to build your friendship and see extra story. As the plot unfolds you'll meet friends, rivals, corporate sponsors, and even a mysterious Sports King with grand ambitions...

I wasn't going to leave this review, but I feel like I have to. This is more of a warning than a negative review. When you have the option to loan away your beastie for training to a man named Gene? Don't do it. This is a game with one save. No save slots. It'll permanently ruin your save, and you won't realise it until much later. And when you do? Your only option is to start over. It's worse because the NPC in question says that if you don't accept, they'll retract their offer forever. So you feel pressured into doing it. Essentially, you're pressured into wrecking your save. Your one save. In a dialogue that doesn't give you a chance to 'back out and think about it' so you can make a backup of your save. So, it's up to you whether you heed me on this, but do so at your peril. You will lose your progress from the very beginning. For me, it ruined my experience with the game as I rushed ahead trying to figure out how to fix the bug—attempting different things that were suggested. So, what might've been fun discoveries are now stressful memories. I don't want to happen to anyone else playing this. This isn't a bad game. It's a great game with a wretched design decision tied to …

Like Pokemon if it was good!

Game is too easy for its own good. Lots of mechanics, but basically no reason to engage with any of them because they just make you win slower. Vast majority of "beasties" only evolve once or not at all, and function pretty much identically once they have anyway.

Better game design than any of the Paper Plumber or Pokè Bowl games this is inspired by. The “gimmick” in the gameplay feels welcome contextually to the storyline in a way that’s hard to find in this genre
