I wasn't going to leave this review, but I feel like I have to. This is more of a warning than a negative review. When you have the option to loan away your beastie for training to a man named Gene? Don't do it. This is a game with one save. No save slots. It'll permanently ruin your save, and you won't realise it until much later. And when you do? Your only option is to start over. It's worse because the NPC in question says that if you don't accept, they'll retract their offer forever. So you feel pressured into doing it. Essentially, you're pressured into wrecking your save. Your one save. In a dialogue that doesn't give you a chance to 'back out and think about it' so you can make a backup of your save. So, it's up to you whether you heed me on this, but do so at your peril. You will lose your progress from the very beginning. For me, it ruined my experience with the game as I rushed ahead trying to figure out how to fix the bug—attempting different things that were suggested. So, what might've been fun discoveries are now stressful memories. I don't want to happen to anyone else playing this. This isn't a bad game. Like Pokemon if it was good!

Game is too easy for its own good. Lots of mechanics, but basically no reason to engage with any of them because they just make you win slower. Vast majority of "beasties" only evolve once or not at all, and function pretty much identically once they have anyway.

Better game design than any of the Paper Plumber or Pokè Bowl games this is inspired by. The “gimmick” in the gameplay feels welcome contextually to the storyline in a way that’s hard to find in this genre
