What the hell happened ?! I was sold this game by a video title stating it was a "Conan Metroidvania". I had made my mind up immediately to check this out. Then I saw it was a sequel, so naturally I bought the first game. The first Beholgar is a *perfect* video game. I mean that, I am an old man that has played thousands of games over the course of what feels like several lifetimes. Beholgar sings in its design, especially given its intentions, play loop, and the fact that it was made by like one person. I was blown away, I devoured the game. I was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excited for Beholgar 2. Bro, after the SIXTH time i was able to accidentally jump over the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ walls and fall out of the level without any way to fix the issue (sometimes I lost the pause function somehow ?), I was ... the word is going too far, I accept that, but I feel *betrayed*. - The control response time is laughable. - I can file my taxes faster than this slacker can swing his sword - Give the bosses a pattern, this randomly picking from a moveset ♥♥♥♥ has to go, you can either have perfect precision combat or random skill-based combat, you can't do both, it makes winning feel like it was just a matter of luck …3 found this helpful
This is a bit of a tough one. The graphics are pretty great, the story is fun, the whole thing drips of atmosphere and the gameplay is simple, but fun. But boy, the bugs! SO MANY BUGS! This game really needs another quality pass or two. Really, with less bugs, this could be an absolute Indy classic to easily recommend to others. As it stand though, if the style and gameplay speak to you, try it, it's fun. But also be prepared to fall out of the level, get stuck in menu, restart at the wrong checkpoints, broken animations and so much more. And always holding a sword, no matter which weapon you selected. That one kind of annoyed me the most, probably because it intruded on the barbarian fantasy which otherwise feels so great. Oh, also, dev should make an achievement out of collecting treasure chest. Its fun finding those, but you really don't need to, so that would be great!
Eu tenho o primeiro jogo no Switch e o segundo no PC. Vale a pena pegar os dois. Prefiro o primeiro por conta do gráfico mas o 2 tbm é bom. Não tive problemas pra jogar num notebook fraco.
Best part is the art Otherwise it's pretty half baked. very basic combat. unresponsive controls. parry and charge attack mechanics that aren't worth using. barely qualifies as a metroidvania. quite a few bugs. So can't recommend it, unless you're a true barbarian fan.
Right when i started the game looked good, the animations are great, and having controller support without steam input is a great improvement! Blocking is a nice thing to have too! So many improvements from the first game that are amazing! 10/10 Sidenote: I agree there is a lot of points that need polish like menus staying on screen and not being able to exit it without closing the game, falling off the map and having to close the game to fix it (Example: https://www.twitch.tv/catchingfire3_/clip/ElatedSavoryOctopusDBstyle-zhWJuctkhn65F4yz), getting stuck by rolling under a gap (happened to me in the first game as well), and bad level layout (I've thought so many times that there was a possible secret area but got stuck). I got this Beholgar 2 for free but before i played Beholgar 2 i bought and beat Beholgar for 1) interest in the game and 2) comparison making. I enjoyed playing Beholgar and so far i am enjoying Beholgar 2! Both games are fun but different in some way! Beholgar felt and looked like NES while Beholgar 2 feels and looks like SNES! Still a 10/10 imo
Good lord, what can i say about this game ? that it has a ton of bugs ? that u can get trapped in the level and have to restart ? that it is designed in a way that makes no sense or anything and have to run in circles just to figure out where to go next ? and the best of all, i know it is a lot of hard work, but imagine using a spear but u still walk around with the basic sword and only swap to the spear or any other weapon as u attack, how lazy can a dev be ? and yet, it is a fantastic throwback and a nice upgrade , the first one felt like a c64 game and now this jumped into the amiga realm. also, note, some bosses are for the books, the concubine for example is one of the best animated bosses i seen and even the giant lizard....really good stuff. get it on deep sale, short game, fun but aggravating, especially when a small moth can stun lock you.
