my god is this game beautiful and well designed. still I really struggled with the game. I'm on a amd 7320u. I'm just happy that it runs. that being said my minimum spec makes it unclear how the controls work. i can't really run and jump in order for a jump to register I essentially need to press jump almost immediately after running. a double jump would really be helpful. the controls just don't feel natural for example I might want to run off the first platform and then in midair jump or use a boost and then jump at the end of the jump. it just doesn't feel natural. k is my crouch and slide. pressing it makes me explode. looking at the trailer the game looked incredible but it seemed a little bit to intricate to be playing this late at night but it was free so I gave it a go.
"Bifröst: Through the Realms" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam, from somewhere in Utah this time. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students made a rather mediocre action platformer where you control a Norse guy with a robot arm (yeah it makes no sense) and teleport around the place because someone watched too much of Marvel's Thor movie and thought they could bang out a homework assignment from it. As a game for gamers, however, this offers little to nothing. The graphics aren't great, low pol…
Decided to give this a go impulsively, after seeing it gathering metaphorical dust in the confusing chasm that is my Steam Library. Fun, albeit a little janky game. I like the funny writing and the Nordic influence, cannot speak for it's accuracy or faithfulness or whatever, but it certainly makes it more unique. Give it a go, it's free and probably not a crypto miner.
Very fun game
awful
