Valkyrie Saga

I have bought many games this year from 90quid AAA to £3 slop and out of all I can safely say this is my favourite of them all. Its a platformer where you have a limit to how many moves you can do in combination before resetting on the ground. Initial its 2 and then 3 and the 4... and the addicted. Awesome game. Congrats to the developer. Inspirational.

Of all of the nonlinear 3d platformers I've played, this is the best. The game nails the open world style, always having the objective visible that you can go challenge whenever you want. The exploration feels rewarding, with every big area providing at least 2 of the games main powerup/collectables, making almost every major platforming challenge give a good reward. My only real negative to this game is the combat. It feels completely superfluous with only two real enemy types in the entire game, a push over standard enemy, and a slightly less push over mini boss. Not one of these enemies is mandatory, and they're barely an inconvenience, so why even have combat at all? Buy this game, it's a short (took me about 4 hours with casual exploration) platformer that can be beaten in a single sitting, definitely a good choice for a cozy weekend game.

Sick blend of movement and exploration with a retro style that rewards both chill casual exploration as well as deeper secrets for those willing to go the extra mile. Great stuff.

I don’t like to review games, but since Public Void is continuing to update this game and is engaging directly with the fans of this game and since I’ve plugged ~19 hours into this game I’ll give my two cents on it. [b]I will be discussing the whole of this game so obligatory spoiler warning[/b]. In my nobody-Steam-gamer opinion, [spoiler]Valkyrie Saga is a very good game seriously hampered by its messaging as of now. It’s outlook is the in-vogue postmodern nihilism which sees everything as horrible and unchangeable and the way to fix things is to ignore it all and do what you want. But...[/spoiler] [b]Gameplay:[/b] This game was made by people who [i]love[/i] platformers and the fantastic movement and attack system makes this evidently clear. The large map over time changes from a detailed landscape to a parkourfest, and the nooks and crannies Public Void stuffs things with to interact with are balanced with wide spaces to zoom around on. As you get more crystals, upgrades, and two spells which enhance your movement(the way the game does this is great pacing), you can bounce around the map in a way that I wish other games could.
