About Valkyrie Saga

Valkyrie Saga is an indie, retro platformer styled after PSX classics, giving you a chance to embark on an epic odyssey! Play as Roll the Valkyrie, a divine warrior tasked by the gods with one mission: Stopping a floating island from crashing into the earth. Ascend the ancient skyborne land, explore ancient ruins, unlock their secrets - and stop the cataclysm!
Valkyrie Saga captures the original PSX with era-authentic visuals, a deeply immersive soundtrack, and gameplay that recreates the magic that defined a generation.

As the divine warrior, you'll have to master both the art of soaring across the skies across the plummeting island, and the way of the spear, confronting otherworldly foes!
Hidden among the ruins, cryptic scribblings, and odd twists of the world is a complex story to piece together, detailing what happened to the civilization that once occupied the island. Can you find out the truth before it is too late?

I loved how it felt to play, but lack of Playstation glyphs, makes me not want to recommend if you use a Playstation 5 controller. Otherwise it's fantastic.

Open world 3d platformer where you get rewarded heavily for exploring. Movement starts off slow but it quickly picks up and you can zoom across the map. Ended 100%'ing it and was a blast to play. :)

Retro style platformer with fresh movement. It's not perfect (I found a way out of bounds in one of the side levels, the one that gives the guard ability and darkness spell, wasn't even a glitch, the wall was just too short and had a gap), but none of the problems so far have actually worsened my experience with the game. I really like the sprint, it's satisfying to use. I'd imagine the exploration could seem rather aimless for some, but so far I've had a pretty easy time of it. This game reminds me of a short hike in it's gameplay, with the upgrade system and main goal being similar. It also greatly reminds me of Psuedoregalia. That said, its certainly an original experience. So far it seems the lore is interesting, but I'm worried it might turn out to be darker than I'd like with the way the story goes. But I haven't actually made it that far yet, I think I might have found an unusual amount of the dark parts for how early into the game I am.

a bit rough around the edges, but overall enjoyable. the platforming & exploration is fun, and the game controls well.

This feels like a retro PS1 era game. I absolutely love it, and it probably would've been my favorite game at the time if it had been on PS1

Great platformer with a cozy and soothing feel. I spent a lto of time exploring, the challenges were fun with a nice soft souls like feel. Made me think of elden ring many times, but for kids ? (In a good way)
