About Valkyrie Saga

Valkyrie Saga is an indie, retro platformer styled after PSX classics, giving you a chance to embark on an epic odyssey! Play as Roll the Valkyrie, a divine warrior tasked by the gods with one mission: Stopping a floating island from crashing into the earth. Ascend the ancient skyborne land, explore ancient ruins, unlock their secrets - and stop the cataclysm!
Valkyrie Saga captures the original PSX with era-authentic visuals, a deeply immersive soundtrack, and gameplay that recreates the magic that defined a generation.

As the divine warrior, you'll have to master both the art of soaring across the skies across the plummeting island, and the way of the spear, confronting otherworldly foes!
Hidden among the ruins, cryptic scribblings, and odd twists of the world is a complex story to piece together, detailing what happened to the civilization that once occupied the island. Can you find out the truth before it is too late?

This feels like Psuedoregalia but just worse. Idk, that's all I can say about it.

Loved the demo, if you like it the full game is worth it, looks retro but plays as smooth as a modern game.

OK some bug I've noticed that should be fixed, and a few things I'll suggest here but THIS IS A FANTASTIC GAME. Growing up with Spyro gave me a desire for platformers that are all about gliding and thinking about height and distance. This has been a hole in my heart since the last spyro game was released on the ps1. Since that time platformers have been obsessed with making 2d tunnels filled with spikes where you just memorize the correct direction. Valkyrie Saga not only has fantastic gameplay with very relaxed open ended exploration, world building is fantastic, the atmosphere is built on the moments of music, the characters, your mission, all together and they come together wonderfully. Now a few bugs I noticed that I'm sure will get fixed. There's a few parts right outside the dock that make Roll "stuck" when you Sprint through them. There's a few platforms that spawn doubles, not sure what triggers it, I've seen a few windmills that overlapp and leave no gaps between each other. The only recommendations I have is to allow Roll to cancel a slam because quite a few times I've been mid flight somewhere and the lightest press of my trigger started the slam undoing all my pr…

The open world is too empty and bland, the enemies are all basically the same and easy, there are tons of bugs with movement (ie. getting stuck in the ground constantly), the story is pointless and just a checkbox for word count, the map does not tell you where you are or what you've finished which is overwhelming. The music and aesthetic is nice. Honestly if the map at least showed where we are and what we finished, it would be more tolerable but I can't stand just endlessly looking for things with no guidance in a world full of issues. It's a nice concept but in execution, not much of a good time.
