Bonk is a very strange little game, but I think it succeeds because it understands that sometimes I just want something running in the background. It is basically a musical idle game where squares move back and forth like a pendulum, producing notes and earning me currency whenever they change direction. I found the whole idea oddly mesmerizing. The main progression is built around buying more squares and using the currency they generate to increase the scale of the whole system. Eventually I can prestige and gain a multiplier, which unlocks additional features and gives me another reason to keep the process running. I liked the sense of gradually turning a tiny musical toy into a much more elaborate setup. The music generation is easily the most interesting part. Different instruments and scales can completely change the character of the sounds, and the rhythm comes from the movement of the squares rather than a traditional soundtrack. I enjoyed listening to the patterns emerge naturally because the game feels like part idle simulator and part tiny music experiment. Pretty good

This isnt a game, it is an experience, a 1 hour musical relaxation which somehow made me cry, it slowed down my perception of time and gave my mind a chance to think about my life, what i want to do and how i'll exist. If i went back in time how would i live life differently, as we are just a small piece of the universe, i just looked this up, 1 in 400 trillion chance of being alive. That is why this game is special.
