Players praise Borzoi's atmospheric horror, excellent sound design, well-designed puzzles that avoid being obtuse, and strong developer responsiveness to community feedback. However, the game receives consistent criticism for underdeveloped combat mechanics and some technical issues like unclear map boundaries and occasional bugs, though most agree the brief experience doesn't overstay its welcome and delivers genuine scares for indie horror fans.
I enjoyed this game and can definitely recommend. Likes - -Nice atmosphere -excellent sound design -doesn't overstay it's welcome -puzzles are straightforward - some of these games, the puzzles can be really obtuse. -Runs well on the Steam Deck Dislikes- -the combat is pretty underdeveloped and is not really needed However, biggest shout out goes to the developer for responding to questions and requests. I asked for an inverted Y option and was implemented. These are the kind of developers I want to support; those that value it's customers.6 found this helpful
10/10 game made by a single developer :o Chilling yet ... familiar >:) Horror fans will def recognise the inspirations behind the game (which was something that really surprised me, in a good way, since I wasn't expecting them). The lore is well written and it develops & transforms the more you explore/complete puzzles. Said puzzles, thankfully, were easy to figure out. Not overly complicated and fun to complete. Gameplay is terrifying... one wrong move and ... BAM! You will never know what is gonna be thrown at you >:D6 found this helpful
Borzoi is a decent indie horror game about a giant killer dog and a cult. It works in a similar way to Granny, find items, solve puzzles, progress further. Pros + Decent Enough Simple Story + Dog Asset is Great + Two Endings, one good, one bad + A variety of enemies not just the big dog + Puzzles are well made and make sense Cons - A little short perhaps - Combat Is a little all over the place - Crafting feels an unnesscery addition. Overall though this is a solid game by a solo dev with decent gameplay and fun to be had. 7/105 found this helpful
This game was a genuine shock and scary. It delivered a seriously creepy vibe that immediately triggered those unsettling Silent Hill vibes. What I appreciated alot was the puzzles werent too hard and they were rewarding, not just frustrating busywork. If you enjoy proper, high quality psychological horror, this atmosphere is absolutely worth your time. Well done to the Dev. You can tell they worked hard2 found this helpful
This is a very small indie game, so I went in with low expectations (and a love of horror games, and borzois). It's basic but genuinely enjoyable and has some good details. These are the things that are great about it: Genuinely scary at times. Good use of sound and "turn around” jumpscares Good little details left around and in notes Love the multiple endings and hints to them. I played through fully twice to get both These are mainly some suggestions for the developer if they're looking to improve the game still: Make it more obvious where you can't walk around the edges of maps whilst not losing immersion - eg longer grass. There were a fair few places where I ran into invisible walls unexpectedly. Make it more obvious that you should run through the bus in the warehouse rather than around it - it was glitchy the way I went. With the radio, make the “thing” only happen after the radio is correctly tuned - it would have been a great moment if I'd got it in the right order. When you crouch, footsteps should be quieter or silenced to at least give an illusion of safety (even if functionally it makes no difference) There's a bug with looking out of the window in the garage not …
This game is ass. It's not just undercooked it's raw. The graphics, combat mechanics, story, and buggy gameplay all speak to a game that was probably created faster than Stephen King wrote and published Cujo. "BORZOI is a first-person survival horror game where you are relentlessly hunted by a giant, demonic Borzoi dog." Actually the "dog" walks back and forth on a set path. Non-linear objectives are neat, however.
