About Broken Lines

Your squad has crash-landed behind enemy lines, in the heart of an alternate history Eastern Europe. With no intel or leadership to support them, these soldiers must fight their way back home before the horrors of war break them. Teamwork and strategy are paramount…

‘The Dead and the Drunk’ - The expansion for the tactical action game, Broken Lines.

Dead are returning from their graves! If crash landing behind enemy lines was already a challenging experience for our squad of vagabonds, they sure as Hell didn’t sign up for this kind of insane, supernatural encounter, a three-sided fight for survival against both the living and the undead. Yet now it is upon them to discover the source of this occult magic in the war-ridden land that they find themselves in, and hopefully eliminate it before hordes of zombies spread all over the world. But how does one retain their sanity when facing enemies that have been spat out of hell?
  • Combat is similar to that of a turn-based tactical RPG, but soldiers move only when action phase starts.
  • Choices you make will shape the story to your liking leading to a different campaign endings.
  • Tactical action

‘The Dead and the Drunk’ - The expansion for the tactical action game, Broken Lines.

  • Scout the battlefield, lure undead hordes to fight your enemies, then once both sides are suitably weakened, charge in and mop up the weakened survivors in one fell swoop - or bring out the biggest guns in your arsenal and simply blast your sorrows away.
  • Occult mysteries.
  • Inhuman bosses
  • Booze and guns. The more your soldiers drink, the more perks and abilities they get.

This game is fundamentally broken. First of all, the difficulty feels poorly balanced. I'd say the house always wins. The RNG is more unfair and annoying than in The Darkest Dungeon. Between missions you have a sort of hub for preparing for the next mission where interactions between your soldiers also happen. Most of them have negative outcomes and make your condition worse. Once I lost two squadmates because of it in two dialogues in a row. After that I started a mission where I killed every enemy but couldn't figure out the objective and got stuck. That was the last straw before I uninstalled the game. Often environments are cramped, and your team constantly ends up shooting each other in the back. That happens also because of strange tactics here - you have 7a seven-second timer to plan your turn. Also characters can get stuck in each other if they're very close together and lose a turn. And again, Broken Lines has positive reviews, but half of the achievements is rare.

A grim tactical turn based squad game. The gameplay is very satisfying on harder difficulties.

Looks like a tactical WWII squad game, but the combat is shallow and oddly chaotic. The WEGO system sounds interesting, yet in practice outcomes feel opaque and hard to control. Small maps, limited manoeuvre, little tactical nuance. I tried the Prologue, but it did not engage me at all
