About Pharaoh + Cleopatra

✦ AI summary

Build and manage an ancient Egyptian civilization across generations, from farming the unpredictable Nile to constructing monumental pyramids and monuments that define your dynasty's legacy. Navigate complex systems of agriculture, trade, religion, and warfare while balancing prosperity and ruin in this deep city-builder that pioneered features like dynamic flooding mechanics and multi-generational progression.

Immerse yourself in Ancient Egypt from the age of the great pyramids to the final years of the New Kingdom. Govern all aspects of the exotic Egyptian, culture from religion to trading with distant cities. Cultivate vast farms in the Nile valley and discover the important role this river, with its unpredictable floods, played in the life of the Egyptians. Stone by stone, erect giant monuments - from the Sphinx, to the lighthouse and library of Alexandria.

Manage your city poorly and you shall watch it burn, be pillaged or collapse in economic ruin. Manage it well and ultimately the greatest Egyptian structures will be built in your honor. Your rule will span generations, until your dynasty, your royal bloodline produces a Pharaoh!

Pharaoh includes many features never before seen in a city building game, such as a farming model based on the flooding of the Nile, naval warfare, giant monuments that are assembled over time, unique dynastic progression, and variable difficulty levels. This a massively addictive, huge, but most importantly fun game that is a great choice for anyone looking for a solid city builder title, or an intellectual challenge.
  • Pharaoh + Cleopatra bundle includes Pharaoh and Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile expansion.
  • A city-builder gem, made by the creators of the award-winning Caesar III.
  • Extensive help section not only does an excellent job at explaining the game mechanics, but also contains many interesting facts and trivia about life in Ancient Egypt.
  • Destroy enemies on land and sea, or simply build the perfect Egyptian city of your liking with the City Construction Kit.

Keeps introducing new stuff through the missions. A few awkward moments here and there, but limits nurture creativity. Enjoying the smalltalk with the city dwellers, and ohhh of course those transforming and merging houses are so satisfying. A comfy summer game.

Very fun and interesting way to learn a bit about ancient history and appreciate the modern world we live in.

I began playing this when I weas a teenager, back before Pharaoh had the Cleopatra expansion pack. Games like this, Civilization, and Age of Empires had a knack for fully immersing me. I've never beaten the expansion pack portion of this, but it's a goal for me this year. I just really feel like committing the time required to do it finally. There's just so much to love. In particular, the music, the voice acting, the little blurbs of historical facts and situations regarding trade routes just suck me in. You're given options on some missions to focus on cultural achievements rather than battle focused missions. I've completed multiples of both. Both are challengi3ng, though the cultural ones involving building the mastaba and whatnot have a tendency to take longer due mostly to the sheer amount of resources needed to gather to complete. I also enjoy that you have to keep the gods appeased by throwing festivals and building temples. This affects so many aspects of your game, most notably the inundation of the Nile. If you have a farm based mission level, this can absolutely leave you flopping around without the ability to feed your population. Honestly, this is just one of thos…

I played this game way back when, and I loved it, but lost the CD for it. When I found it on steam, I was happy, and played it for many dozens of hours, but set it down for a few years. Then, yesterday, I got the itch and booted it up. Turns out, none of the building animations work anymore. Reinstalling doesn't fix it. This breaks the feel of the game, you can't tell who has employees or not, who is working, what needs attention.
