About Burned One
Immerse yourself in a world where hope battles against the abyss of catastrophe, and discover a story that could change the fate of the main character.
Explore the post-Soviet space, which has turned into a single gloomy place where anomalies violate the laws of physics and reality.|
The main character, Voila, a stalker with a difficult fate, seeks to unravel the mystery of his wife's disappearance during the Cataclysm.
Gather clues, explore the dark corners of new lands, and uncover mysteries lost among the ruins. Here, in the heart of an abandoned world, you will not only find the answer to the fate of Voyla's wife, but also the way to save other people from the creatures of the Cataclysm.
«Burned One» — not just a game, but an exploration of the human soul on the brink of survival. In this world full of danger and hope, you will learn to cherish every moment and never lose faith in the possibility of salvation.
Step into the dark corridors of the post-apocalypse and find out if Voyla will become a guide to the New World...
...or just another shadow in the ashes of the old...
Every step in the New World could be your last. Keep an eye on your surroundings and react as quickly as possible. But... don't make a mistake.
You don't want to end up right in the middle of the «Collapse»...
There is no black and white in this world. Your decisions affect your relationships with people, and in the future — with factions. One wrong move, and the game will end differently than you expected.
Sometimes helping — means putting yourself in danger.
Betraying — means surviving.
And survival — not always a reward.
Every area of the Wastelands holds fragments of the past — diaries, audio recordings, scraps of maps. Collect them to piece together the fate of those who disappeared and uncover what really happened to Voyla's wife.
But some truths are better left buried beneath the ruins...

What Steam players say

Players praise Burned One for its hand-drawn artwork, engaging narrative, and impressive solo development by a dedicated creator who handles all art, writing, and coding himself. The game's atmospheric storytelling, meaningful choices, well-designed interface, and responsive bug fixes earn consistent appreciation, with players noting the developer's commitment to quality across multiple languages. Minor concerns center around occasional translation issues that can create ambiguity, though most players find the overall experience compelling and well-executed for the price.
Has been following developer for a solid year now. Got beta version half a year ago. What can I say. This game has been changed in a better way. I absolutely adore the fact developer drew every single character, background, wrote and implemented the game code, make journal where u can read ALL info about game, enemies, artifacts etc etc. EVERYTHING was drawn and written. Every bug that was reported was fixed in no time (u can report bugs straight from the game if u face them), added languages AND the translate is good. Huge difference in comparison to beta version which was also good. But I'm happy to see this game on Steam. I can see the developers trying to do their best at this game. The plot is kewl, side quests are adding more "life" to the story. Hope to see the full novel in upcoming updates. Game deserves only the best so do developer and coauthor. <39 found this helpful
This game is great! The hand-drawn artwork is immersive and appropriate for the setting. It is very well done, and no AI art just a talented developer working hard! The mechanics of the game from story choices to interface options are well thought out and easy to understand and use. The interface looks amazing, It's hard to believe just one man did all this, *It's Freaking Awesome* Very good story so far, I look forward to more of it as the game unfolds. This game and developer are worth your time and interest.8 found this helpful
Burned One is a somber, atmospheric narrative-driven game that blends visual novel storytelling with exploration and survival elements to create an experience steeped in loss, uncertainty, and quiet resilience. Developed and published by HELIX741, the game situates players in a post-cataclysmic world where reality itself feels unstable, shaped by disaster and abandonment rather than heroic recovery. Instead of focusing on large-scale spectacle or action, Burned One anchors itself in an intimate, emotionally charged journey, asking the player to inhabit the mindset of a lone survivor searching for meaning and connection in a world that has already burned itself hollow. The story follows Voyla, a hardened stalker navigating the remnants of a devastated, post-Soviet landscape warped by a mysterious catastrophe. His motivation is deeply personal: the search for his missing wife, who vanished during the collapse of the old world. This quest gives the narrative a strong emotional spine, grounding the bleak setting in human attachment and longing rather than abstract survival alone. As Voyla moves through ruined settlements, abandoned facilities, and anomalous zones, fragments of the pas…3 found this helpful
I liked this story - surprisingly sweet and wholesome with a dystopian fantasy world that could have been a RPG but a visual novel with minigames is cool. I liked the timed choices and the story was good translation was mostly good although I feel like I might of misinterpreted things here and there. There are achievements which is cool. One play through is 90 minutes and it can be sweet or spicy I guess I made him sweet. More to come that's great. Shurik's story is super sweet reminds me of the Hungry Lamb but this is a good guy or I made him one or something. Graphics, story, music, good. Not finished but I give it a 9/10 because I had some difficulty with translation.3 found this helpful
