Really enjoyed it!

This is fantastic, especially multi player vs a human!

Coming from a WitP:AE background I was hesitant to jump in, as the depth of the game seemed to be a bit shallower, but in the end it was a very positive disappointment. Not only is it not shallow it offers a lot of tactical choices and is a fairly good representation of carrier action and early scenarios of the Pacific war in general (haven't got the DLCs just yet). Also the game offers a lot of guides o it's not too difficult to grasp the mechanism and gameplay. I've played through the Santa Cruz scenario in about 2-3 hours, so it is just the right amount if you don't want to go the whole distance and play a WitP like full grand scenario. If you want a good, fast paced tactical carrier warfare game look no further. To offer some constructive criticism the damage to ships both from airstrikes and surface battles are a bit on the too random side, especially japanese DDs like/tend explode pretty often from their torpedo batteries getting hit. Also I think aircraft sub types would be nice to have (this is just maybe as a future improvement).

Once upon a time, there was Battleline's (later AH) Flat Top, and now there is this. I was a FT addict, and I'm on my way with this. Judicious addition of DLCs makes the games similar, and so I can relive the "joy" of aircraft operations (e.g. sailing the wrong way relative to the wind to launch quickly enough, watching the target of my carefully built strike disappear out of range, getting my CAP wrong so it's coming down just as the enemy airstrike appears out of nowhere. This is not a game for control freaks, as so much of the game is invisible to you, or those lacking the fortitude to bear losses and continue playing. The DLC have each come with a new scenario, and each have their points of interest, though I love the RN ones as they are so different, even if luck does play a larger part than usual (even if you get everything right, the torpedoes still have to do some damage!). Multiplayer works easily and well; although I've recently had occasional temporary glitches, possibly due to be opponent being behind the Chinese firewall.
