Coming from a WitP:AE background I was hesitant to jump in, as the depth of the game seemed to be a bit shallower, but in the end it was a very positive disappointment. Not only is it not shallow it offers a lot of tactical choices and is a fairly good representation of carrier action and early scenarios of the Pacific war in general (haven't got the DLCs just yet). Also the game offers a lot of guides o it's not too difficult to grasp the mechanism and gameplay. I've played through the Santa Cruz scenario in about 2-3 hours, so it is just the right amount if you don't want to go the whole distance and play a WitP like full grand scenario. If you want a good, fast paced tactical carrier warfare game look no further. To offer some constructive criticism the damage to ships both from airstrikes and surface battles are a bit on the too random side, especially japanese DDs like/tend explode pretty often from their torpedo batteries getting hit. Also I think aircraft sub types would be nice to have (this is just maybe as a future improvement).1 found this helpful

Wunderbar!
A good successor to my all time favorite, Flattop.
