CATpillAr is one of the strangest VR mini games I have come across, and I honestly found the whole idea weirdly entertaining. I am placed inside an abandoned hospital filled with giant hairy caterpillars, and my job is basically to grab them and throw them into a bucket. It sounds ridiculous, and that is exactly why I enjoyed it. The main gameplay is extremely simple. I walk through the hospital, find the caterpillars, physically reach out and grab them in VR, then aim and throw them into the bucket. I liked how direct the interaction feels because the whole point is to make the act of catching these creatures feel physical. The caterpillars squirm around while I am holding them, which makes the simple mechanic much more amusing than it sounds on paper. The time limit gives the experience a little more intensity. Instead of casually wandering around, I have to move quickly and try to collect as many creatures as possible before the session ends. I enjoyed chasing better scores because it gives the otherwise tiny game an arcade style loop. And from the looks of it, everything in this VR tech demo that isn't AI slop came off the Unreal Marketplace. What do you do in the game? This is a pointless and short VR tech demo made with AI slop, vibe coded into being a barely functional train wreck where you wave your arms around in VR to put worms in buckets. That's it. Someone seriously paid $100 to dump this AI slop onto Steam (even the marketing blurb is AI slop). What a waste of their money and our time. The technical execution of this game is shallow and simplistic, just enough to tick the boxes required to get something (anything) published on Steam, rather than investing the huge amount of effort and budget needed to create a fully fledged, comprehensive, high quality product.
