Total flop in every way. This is neither a chess game nor a Sokoban, as the description reads "Help the white pieces escape by solving chess puzzles ranging from beginner-level to more experienced challenges in this dungeon-themed sokoban-style game." There is no sokoban elements to this game at all, which is the tag I was browsing when I saw this. The theme is chess and the pieces move accordingly, but that is it. The rules of chess do not apply: the opponent only moves if they can capture a piece, you can lose your king and keep going, the opponent does not move their king out of check. Level 34 (two from the final level) you just take their king in one move with a knight.... ????? What does "Help the white pieces escape" mean? The stage is complete when you take their king, I don't understand. Controls are slow, click on a piece has a delay before clicking on another. Have to de-select piece to click on another. Clickbox for pieces feels off, maybe the camera angle.9 found this helpful
It's a dollar's worth of chess-ish puzzles. Wish there was a 'classic mode' view and that the pieces were easier to select and deselect but, honestly? For a DOLLAR? I got way more than a dollar's worth of fun out of it. Well worth the price if you like chess puzzles.2 found this helpful
It's a puzzle game using chess pieces and their unique moves. Not terribly hard and pretty fun. Granted, I beat everything fairly quickly. It's still worth the 99 cents, as I'm sure I will replay this game on-and-off for years to come. My only complaint is that it is sometimes hard to interpret what all the pieces are.
Chess in name and appearance only. The piece move as Chess pieces do, but that's it. If the opponent cannot take one of your pieces in their current turn, then they do not move and it's your turn to move again. In one of the first levels, you can move multiple times in a row. So you can't plan around a move like, "So if I go here, and they go there, then I can do this..." which is a very important factor in Chess. Also, if your king gets captured, you can still keep playing... Like, what?? Just no.
It was too easy. Chess fans look elsewhere.
