Chesscape Room is a chess variant where you race to escape through a door with your king while your opponent hunts you down.

I like chess, but I am not the best player. I actually almost thought one level was impossible, but then I realized I wasn't thinking it through. The get away angle makes it really tense. For some reason I get really nervous being close to the door. I was wondering what happens when you checkmate your hunter, and apparently they skip the turn and then you have to still get to the door to finish the game. Pretty interesting. I found this out in a custom game.4 found this helpful
Really interesting chess variant. The intro campaign shows off its fun. It was even a bit challenging near the end. Basically you have to scheme to get your king to a door, which leads to interesting tactics. I had my king 3 squares from the door. Opponent had a rook and two knights. I could sprint and hope, or I could sacrifice my last bishop to force their rook onto a bad diagonal. I went for it. The rook took. I slipped through with one tempo to spare. Pretty blown away by the editor, seems this game will be aimed at allowing every to contribute boards and campaigns too, which should be lots of fun. I can't wait for the online multiplayer, I have no one to play locally with.3 found this helpful
