Chronomon

This game started as a mess. That is the kindest thing I can say about it. when it first came out for PC. Everything crashed, constantly. I do mean everything. Winner of the 'buggiest game of all time" award winner level of bad. Then, after many many many 'updates and hot fixes', the game finally works!! Yes, it was a long time coming. Too long for many of you. However, it is now a functional game. And other than an excessive amount of "farming" required (not the food kind: the hunt for days for materials kind), its a lot of fun and clever. Its a farming sim, a creature capture game, and a crafting game, all in one. The game is enjoyable and creative. The down side is that you have to level your chronomon above level 25 to do the second quest line in Vicevale. Which means playing for about 32=35 hours, before you can do the second quest. After that, it gets more enjoyable. This review went from a "maybe" to a hard "no", to finally being a 'yes' for recommendation. ~~~~~~~~~~~ REVISED FROM ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW ~~~~~~~~~~~ MAYBE! This game is amazing!!!!! Grindy, farming, creature catching and more! The dev is friendly receptive to glitch fixes, and works on all sorts of cool things for this game! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a creature collector × farming sim mix over and over!!!!! :)

Short version: Stardew Valley meets Creature Collector. As noted in my longer description below, my concerns are all related to the UI. A ton of potential hidden behind a really clunky and unoptimized UI. At a minimum, six months; likely a year to fix most of the UI issues. All the content-related things you would want in a game, and some pretty rich mechanics too! (If you can get past the UI issues.) Long version: If you can get past the clunky UI, this game has a lot of potential. There are all the regular things you like from something like Stardew Valley, with building/mining/farming, etc., but with some good creatures for good measure. Once you can figure out how the mechanics work, it's pretty enjoyable. Feedback: This game seems like it was tested on a controller. If I hover over items in the inventory with mouse and keyboard, they don't show information, but when I use WASD to flip between them, they do. In addition, moving a Chronomon from storage to serve as a farm helper is a drag-and-drop operation. I tried to play this, but partway thru the tutorial, it bugged out and completely broke the questline. Instant refund.

This is a great game with A LOT to do. It runs very smoothly, with no graphical problems, on both Linux and Windows as i have played it on both. If you also have the android version, it does have cross save to transfer between PC and mobile. The battle system is one of the most unique I've ever come along. Battles happen right on the map where you were walking around. If you approach a wild Chronomon and get close enough, you have the option to attempt to befriend it to in order to catch it, or you can start a battle to weaken it till its susceptible to your CIM card. you get to watch as you summon your Chronomon to your side, to fight for your honor, as the attacking Chronomon approaches for attack. Then it follows the good old fashion turn based battle style. Each Chronomon has its own personality, some may be tougher to get close to without battle. Once you are friendly enough with your pets, you can take control and use them to hunt and explore by themselves, which also allows for a more action based battle, which is a whole different experience from the traditional turn based battle.
