In this place, robbers are sent when they receive the death penalty, where it was believed that demons wander. After arriving at the Forbidden Forest, she hears her sister screaming, after which she decides to enter the forest. Code Alkonost: Awakening of Evil is an atmospheric horror-adventure that leans heavily into Slavic folklore, weaving its dark themes around ancient legends, forest spirits, and the thin boundary between the natural world and the supernatural. From its opening moments, the game establishes a sense of personal urgency by framing its story around two sisters: one lost within a forbidden forest and the other determined to retrieve her, even if it means stepping into a realm where myth is not only real but hungry. The disappearance becomes a gateway into a world shaped by ritual, ancestral memory, and forces that predate humanity. This emotional grounding gives the horror a human anchor, preventing it from becoming just a sequence of scares and instead crafting a narrative of duty, dread, and familial devotion. The world itself is the game’s strongest asset. Thick woods, ancient shrines, dilapidated rural structures, and uncanny ritual sites create a sense of a place both sacred and profaned. The developers draw heavily from Slavic mysticism — creatures like forest guardians, witches, spirits, and demonic entities lurk behind every whisper of wind or flicker of torchlight. NOT WORTH at all! There's really not anything good to say about it. Everything looks like a one man project for a class done in a week. I saw an article about this game supposedly having "thousands" of players... i see now why the peak was 4 players and i'm guessing its all the dev team..2 found this helpful
I'm skeptical of the positive reviews for this game, did I play a different game? Code Alkonost is a horror game with puzzle elements that draws heavily from Slavic mythology. You play a woman who is tasked with finding her sister after she goes missing while the two of them are making their regular offering to an idol. You quickly find yourself pursued by a soldier in full armor who mistakes you for a demon and punches you twice in the head and stabs you. You’re fine though somehow and wake up in the soldier’s house where he explains that he’s possessed when he leaves the house and will always mistake you for an enemy and try to kill you. You’re given an amulet that turns you invisible for a few seconds and sent on your way through six different areas where you must avoid a couple monsters (one of which is only encountered during a very short sequence), solve a couple puzzles, and fight the same boss a couple times where the mechanics/strategy don’t change at all. In case it wasn’t clear, this game is very bad. The graphics are bad, especially for an Unreal Engine 5 game. The tutorial menu spoils scenes in the game because each one is hyper specific to the scenario the mechanic p…1 found this helpful
What a terrible experience, from start to finish. 30% of the game I was stuck because no idea tf was going on or where to go. Voice acting is terrible A walking horror simulator and the last boss fight is literally dark souls lol "This game was created by a diverse team full of individuals from various genders, cultures, religions" Didn't know AI had religions. Maybe next time focus on making a good game instead of being "diverse" just saying. 2/101 found this helpful
