Unfortunately, ZIN: Esper Arena seems to be a massive downgrade from the original S4 League in it's current state. It feels like a minimum viable product released too early. The Early Access note says they were shooting for a one-year release date, and if this is what they've got, then I'm sorry to say Code ZIN is far from ready for a full release next month. The Good: - They brought back PlanetBoom, one of the music artists from S4 League. You'll even hear remixes of their old songs. - Wall jumping feels pretty similar to S4, if not a little more forgiving - Energy consumption is reduced, letting players chain longer wall jumps and sprints. Some might see this as a downside, though. The Bad: - Some of the music remixes feel very 'low energy' compared to the original songs. - The gunplay is not nearly as clean as S4 League. Rifle scoping is incredibly basic and overly sensitive. - Melee attacks don't feel impactful. In a game where you're constantly getting shot, melee weapons don't make up for it in damage or stun time. Compare this to S4, where melee and guns were on a relatively even playing field. - Weapon variety is pretty limited. They brought back several guns and melee we…

As a former S4League Player, I felt like checking back on this page again and I saw this went from $10 to FREE (since Nov. 5th 2025) I tried playing right after downloading it. I was the only player online...I was only able to play Touchdown mode with bots. Here are some pain points I felt: - Swordplay doesn't feel very impactful. It feels like I'm swinging at bots with the damage of a wet paper towel. All weapons have a ammo system--including melees (why?). IMO I think this is a TERRIBLE design choice but I get that you're trying something new here. "high-mobility duels" "limitless skill expression" You put limited 2-stock ammo on a sword. - Gunplay feels slow and also janky. I noticed that there's recoil/bullet spread when holding down the trigger. I thought why not just single tap fire? Nah. Automatic guns like Scorpio & Scarab WILL ONLY FIRE PROPERLY if you hold down left click. If you try tap firing (Spam left click) you get a janky animation that works at like HALF THE PROPER RPM. ON TOP OF THAT, the crosshair expands greatly even though you input 10 left clicks for 3 shots - My two gripes above are probably because of the animation-locking when you attack. - Map Desig…

Game is very enjoyable but if you're a long time fan of s4league (you probably are if you're here) this game might not replace s4l for you. Great work overall from the devs, looking forward for new map releases. Really hoping this game evolves into something that makes it stand out from being just a modern take on s4l.
