This game holds a lot of promise, bringing a charming environment, a rich universe, cute and inventive in-world puzzles, and a slightly smart story. It performs well, and the main-world mechanics are amusingly simulator-esque. But the game design is debilitating: the cube minigames you spend most of your playtime on are completely detached from all the above (limp narrative hand-waving notwithstanding) and have a control scheme only a developer could love. If you actually want to understand the story, get ready to scour several square kilometers of barren wasteland lightly glazed with a foliage tool for documents, of which most are banal flavor but a few are essential to comprehending the major narrative beats. I wish the whole game had been like its protasis, because that was delightful.

I really liked the start of this game. Sci-fi setting, nice cozy yurt, trying to put a giant puzzle together. All things that make up games I like. Sadly, the gameplay quickly killed and detracted any good those aspects brought. Grabbing objects and using them has been a challenge. It was quite clunky. A few times I dropped objects and could hardly find them. Using items could be like having toddler arms where order of use matters. Furthermore, the cube games required a lot of finesse in moving objects which toddler arms don't seem to like. Though I could not motivate myself to make it to the end, I could see how if one has the patience or natural skill to navigate with the controls, the story seemed like it had a lot of potential. The environment seemed to be there. I just can't say for sure as I did not have the will to keep playing.

That's a big no. I've had a thing for Mongolia for years, I'm in love with the setting, and the vibe is great, so I had some hopes for this game, but oh my god everything else is abysmal. Borderline unplayable. I couldn't get very far so I can't speak about the story. But every technical aspect is a catastrophe : - constant stutter and framerate drops that will make you sick in minutes... stuttering that somehow can get improved if you plug in a controller ? Anyway, doesn't matter your computer. I have a very high end computer, even with quality dialed down to lowest, AA turned off, resolution turned below native, it still stutters every 5 to 10 seconds, even in interiors. - gameplay, gamefeel and controls are... Straight up terrible ? Just outdated ? Then it was already outdated by its release. Feels and plays like a 2000 something game, not a 2015 game. - non rebindable controls with QWERTY by default - mouse controls have some randomness. I don't know if they added in-game mouse acceleration, but sometimes mouse doesn't move, sometimes it moves too much. And from what I read on other reviews, the gameplay is going to be bad the whole game, and at some point infuriating, so... …
